You technically don't have to send save-the-dates. The only time they are necessary is if it is a destination wedding, or over a holiday weekend, that way people can plan well in advance for travel plans. So if it's either of those two, you should send the save-the-dates as soon as you have settled on a date and it is confirmed. Don't worry about save the dates if you are getting married locally

I did it about 4 months before the wedding.

Formal save-the-dates are really only necessary if you have lots of people coming from far away. In that case, send them 6 - 8 months in advance.

this depends - in part - on how far your guests might need to travel. I have read 6 months to 1 year ahead is appropriate for a wedding.
The farther your guests may need to travel, the closer to 1 year ahead you can send save-the-dates.

At least six months before. It depends on when you are having it. I am having mine over a busy holiday weekend so I am going to send them 9 months before so people have plenty of time to make arrangements.

Nine months in advance. One year out if it's a destination wedding .

Good luck

it depends on when your wedding is being held. I would say about six months before the wedding.

These are usually done about months ahead of time. They can be sent anytime after you have booked the church and hall.
