Mayra or Myra means Ungida (spanish), Anoited (english).
It comes from the name of one of the gifts that the wise men or Maggi gived to Jesus when He was a baby. The gift was mirra (spanish) mirrh (english) myrrha (latin).
From the myrrh a scented oil was obtained and was used in religious ceremonies and also for medicinal uses. See links for more details.
