Belief in God has inspired some of the most amazing works of art in Western history.
The Bible is singly the most important book to read to understand Western Civilization, Literature, and Philosophy.

In answer to Your question, "apparently not" although skalite gave an excellent, factual comment about God and a kind remark about the Bible.
I feel like saying, "No, no, apologies, but we meant the OTHER atheists, please?" Maybe skalite can go find them for us.
What's with this "can't comment on something not real"? Don't You ever talk about movies or books? When everyone laughs at a joke, do You go, "That's just stupid! That would never happen!" and this makes You intelligent? It is amazing how an atheist can sound just like a fundie.
I liked the question. I had high hopes. Stupid ME.

You really read a lot into people's answers, perhaps you should think about how you read things. I rarely see hatred in atheist answers, maybe 10% or less express hate.
This is basically the case as you can't hate a non existent thing, or at least hating it is a waste of time and effort. The same thing applies to saying something good about it, it's essentially the same as saying good things about Santa...
The bible is a good source for archaeological locations but other than that, it is lacking in any sort of evidence.

The bible is a fascinating story and there are good moral lessons throughout, I just wish people wouldnt take it so literally. Too many people have put too much of what they stand for in an ubsustantiated source, Then perverted it to fit whatever sick agenda they're pushing.
If you could seperate the bible from the followers and see it as the a peice of elaborate fiction that it is it's not bad at all.

Not going to say anything good about something I do not believe in. That is ludicrous.
As for the bible, there are some parts that do have a worthwhile message. The love your neighbor part is a pretty good one. However, that does not mean that I believe the book to be anything other than man made or that I believe that everything in the book is worthwhile.

I can't really say anything nice about god, but there are SOME good points in the Bible.

Oh so that you want to discuss common sense now? the element right that is that Heaven is eternal bliss, you doesn't favor sex. And why are you assuming that shall we ALL upload that characteristic into Heaven? no longer each and each and every human being thinks a similar, noticeably compared with those who lived 1000's of years in the past.

The Bible has some valuable parables in it...the Good Samaritan comes to mind. It's also an interesting look into the history and mythology of people in that era.
The Bible isn't "bad"...it's just not something by which I'm going to live my life, and I will fight against those who try to force me to.

God is a good way to get rid of your last two letters in Scrabble, if they happen to be G & D, and there's an open O on the board. The bible is a great book of fiction.

god is easy to spell. just try some of those aztec and maya ones. and do you regard any criticism as hatred. you people never are specific when you post this question. why don't you spell it out that you don't like the freedom of other people to question what you believe. and anyway aren't you being negative about atheism.
