Depends on the type of migraine you have. I was diagnosed with "common migraine" and get the wild light shows that are my signal that one's coming on. My doc told me to avoid: caffeine (including chocolate), aged cheeses, aged meats (like sausages, etc.), and aspartame. He also told me that in all the books lining his shelves there was no proof that aspartame had any link to migraines - but in the process of elimination we found out that was exactly what triggered my migraines. Within 15 minutes of having anything with aspartame in it (diet sodas, diet chewing gums, even little decorations on top of candies) I get the light show and subsequent migraine.

Some foods that may trigger migraines include:
* Chocolate
* Ages cheese
* Citrus fruit - specifically oranges
* Alcohol
* Peanuts, peanut butter, other nuts and seeds
* Pizza
* Potato chip products
* Caffeine found in chocolate and cocoa; beverages such as coffee, tea and colas; also found in certain medications

The important thing to remember is not to go off all of these foods at once, as triggers differ from person to person. A good idea is to keep a journal with your migraines and what foods you have eaten. You may decide to cut down on a few of these trigger foods, but if it doesn't change anything then they aren't triggers for you.

There are different things that cause headaches, even your own bodies allergic reactions to it's own chemicals.

Go on a 2 week food change, Fruits and Veggies, limited meats, nothing fried, NO FAST FOODS (lots of chemicals),
no dairy, nothing white. lots of water, no coffee or sodas. No processes foods (lots of chemicals)

See if your head aches improve or go away. Then if there is something you gave up and want to add it back, add one item at a time until the headaches return. Then you know your problem. It could be excessive sugar (nearly everything you eat has added sugar) Could be caffeine (nearly everything you eat has added caffeine)

The above diet will last you a lifetime and improve your insurance against, heart problems, liver problems, diabetes and many many more. It's a lifestyle improvement.

There is abook out I found helpful called "Heal your Headaches 1 2 3"
I was surprised to find some of the food triggers that were on the list lkie bananas and yogurt,,onions. MSG of course is a big one for me. Do you known the FDA considers it natural and therefore it can be listed under natural flavorings? Also soy protein isolate, whey protein and others can actually be msg? protein powder and sports bars as well.
I thought this book was interesting to read. it's not all that earthy crunchy..eqaull parts medical and drugs..but main stressor being controlling the triggers you can..food and stress..so when ones come along you can't control..weather..hormones..your threshold for triggering attack will hopefully be low enough to not need any or powerfull meds

Many people have actually found that they are dehydrated. So, next time you get a migraine, drink 17 oz of water (not too cold) within 10 minutes. Many have been suprized with such a simple thing. Perhaps you will too.

chocolate, ice cream(dairy products), pickles(cider vinegar), processed meats, caffeine,
I have migraines, I am sorry you do, too. none of these things cause migraines for me but can for some people.
I have to avoid stress and weather extremes(impossible)-I wish it were just food. Good Luck!
