I don't believe the implication of your question is true.

I think most Americans have a live and let live attitude.

However, if your question would have been made in reference to muslims, then I think your question is valid.

I can think of two reasons - the first being "because their parents and other adults were, so that is how they were taught". I recall during the early 60s, when the Kennedys were running for office, the arguments against a Catholic president were fears that they would be "controlled" by the pope.

I frankly don't know anyone who is suspicious of Catholics, myself.

There is a long history of anti-Catholic sentiment. People believed that the Catholics were more loyal to the Pope than to the government.

I think it is because of its noteriety (spelling wrong, I know) people are suspicious of what they dont understand and with all the anti catholic literature out there, and also with catholic stuff on the internet which is not truely catholic, it is hard for people to discern the truth. They think if they go to true catholic information what they will read is untruthes, so they go to anti cathlic places for information, and of corse they receive more lies. If they would instead pick up the new catecism book in all kinds of book stores, they will find what catholics truely beleive, and why we beleive it, and scriptures to back it up. other than that, it is just the fullfilling of the proffecy of Christ that we should expect persecution, and because they hated him they will also hate us.

Suspicious of Catholics???? Well, certainly not of all of them. Like in each and every other religion, there are good and bad people, it's human nature.

As they should be MWUHAHAHA

Jk

I think its because of all of the wars, and the corruption the church has had, and of course the child molestation.

Did you know there are people who think that Catholics think they can buy their way into heaven? Im like no, we do not, and they say to me, Yes you do!! and I have to explain that happened a long time ago and it was because of corruption in the church and no way does anyone believe that now, and they still are like sceptical.

I hated the church, what its become and I had to step back and realize that not all of the people in the church are that way.

My faith is my own, my relationship with God is mine

I am suspicious of anyone who I feel is acting suspicious. I try not to apply that to entire groups.

If you would have studied any and all kinds of Religion, you would understand that Catholicism was formed as a type of control over the people. They sold indulgences to get out of purgatory and other seemingly UN-Christian methods. With the priests getting away with sexual abuse this would not be the right things to believe in it you are truley a Christian

You're exaggerating Carl. I'm Catholic and no one has ever been suspicious of me because of it.
