I usually cook boneless chicken, and that is pretty easy to judge, but the whole bone thing is getting me. Do you think It will feed four adults and two kids; if served with salad rice, veges and biscuts? Thanks

I think you just might make it but make a pie for dessert just in case.

You are speaking of whole uncooked bone in chicken right? If so then you will end up with approx 2.75 to 3#'s of cooked meat (minus fluid loss and bone weight). This would be about 8 oz per person but keep in mind what people like to eat. I would do two chickens for four people so every one can choose light or dark meat. Use left overs for anything! But with all those sides you will be fine with one chicken.

The rule of thumb for bone-in meats is 1 lb. per adult, so yours will feed approx. 4 adults. If the kids are young, they may be able to "pick" at the leftovers or dad's breastmeat.

You're going to get 2 breasts, 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks. If the kids will eat the drumsticks, the adults can decide who gets white meat and who gets dark. I suspect there won't be much in the way of leftovers.
