I keep reading on this forum that evolution has been "proved false" and I would like to know where you get this from. To those who make this claim, please say which books or websites you have read on the subject.

Have you studied any serious works such as Dawkins The Selfish Gene or Mayr's What evolution is?

If so, please say which. For those interested in knowing more about evolution, this site is a good place to start: http://www.talkorigins.org/

Not a single substantive answer from someone who claims evolution is false. Interesting.

Thanks, Tasneem, I've already had the..um.."privilege" of examing the Atlas of Creation in the flesh.

Someone is going to trot out that scientists disagree on parts of it. Leaving out of course that they agree on most of it.

They will drag out 'creationism as science' failing to mention that for it to be considered science the definition of science has to be tossed out along with scientific methodology.

Someone will prance around with long outdated ideas and discredited findings like Nebraska man and Piltdown Man. Ignoring the fact that they were both tossed in the trash decades ago after being found to be either mistakes or hoaxes. Of course they'll glaze over the fact they were exposed by paleontologists and anthropologists.

They will chant that there are no examples of transitional fossils somehow missing that there are thousands.

They will even try to confuse the issue by tossing in the big bang. But in the end perhaps the best evidence in favor of evolution is the fact that critics need to lie to make their argument.

That's an easy one. They don't want to debate it. They want to mislead people who are on the fence. They want to post hit & run disinformation. For them it's a war and they see themselves on the front lines. I have a unique position in that my mother has insisted that I attend church in spite of being an atheist. I won't go into details of the threats if I don't but suffice to say I do it. They know evolution is all but a done deal. It's just been so deep under their skin for so long they just can't let it go.

Tasneem has posted the usual. As I said before lies and misinformation. The website plays the usual game of attacking Darwin which if you read their site you'd think was alive today instead of having died in 1882. It intentionally ignores well over 100 years of science except where it will pick out tiny bits that support its biased position. And in the end really says very little beyond "buy some books by these people who will also feed you more lies and misinformation"

Good work Tasneem you can run and tell them you sold a book or two.

You didn't address your question to those who reject evolution.

But it is interesting that none have answered -- and look how few answers total you've gotten, in a category that usually gets several dozen answers.

(I've read Dawkins Watchmaker and River Out of Eden, quite a lot of Gould, and Darwin's Dangerous Idea -- as well as some reading on UC Berkeley's web site and New Scientist website.)

So, now that I have your attention, how come there's still monkeys?

Anyone who says evolution has been proven false is wrong, and most likely ignorant to science.

If evolution was in any way falsified, it would cease to be a theory.

'The Blind Watchmaker', also by Richard Dawkins could answer a lot of the questions that believers pose on here. Unfortunately they won't look farther than their Bible and the Sky Fairy.

I was taught evolution in the schools back in the 60's, Why I don't believe in it, I cannot prove it wrong.
Of course no one has been able to prove creation wrong.
They have things they believe prove it wrong but that does not mean they are right.
