The trouble is that brainwashed people very rarely realize that they've been brainwashed. They will blather on about this, but they will not be able to give any kind of sensible answer about exactly why they believe what they do.

Because I realize that it is not meant to be taken literally but is a story of good living and morals and a way that ancient people explained their world.

I'm an outspoken, ardent atheist, and the Bible makes sense to me. I guess it's just in how you take it. :)

It is a book of myth, superstition, bigotry, bloodshed, contradiction and lies. And it was written by man.
And that make perfect sense to me.
