D&C 20:9 says the Book of Mormon contains the "fulness of the gospel". So any new revelations would be incorrect.

(Doctrine & Covenants 20:8-9)
"And gave him power from on high, by the means which were before prepared, to translate the Book of Mormon;
Which contains a record of a fallen people, and the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles and to the Jews also; "

Aww gee meat bot. You remind me of a verse by Carol Lynn Pearson (dedicated to the atheist):

“God must have a huge sense of humor
So righteously to resist
The temptation of turning the tables
On your pretending he does not exist.”

The LDS believe that the fullness of the gospel has been restored to the earth through Joseph Smith. That doesn't mean that we immediately understand it, or that our brains will interpret it correctly. Humans in general mess things up. We did the bible, we did Christ,......why would now be any different? We will always need guidance and clarification
....and admonition.

Boy Meatbot... you sure are on a hate jihad against the Mormons. Did they burn down your house or beat up your kid or something?

Deut. 4: 2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Deut. 12: 32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Interestingly Moses kept right on adding to the Bible (OT). I agree the Book of Mormon contains the fulness of the Gospel... so any strange, or contradicting doctrine that arose after the Book of Mormon is a false doctrine and should be rejected. Many revelations in the Doctrine and Covenants indeed contain strange and contradictory doctrines... especially polygamy, celestial marriage and baptism for the dead.

If the BoM contained the fullness of the gospel it surely would have included those core doctrines. It does not. It OPPOSES them, sometimes very strongly so.

Now the gifts of the spirit that are SUPPOSED to exist in the New Testament church include revelation and prophecy. Even women prophecied in Acts. New revelation can occur today... but it would clarify and amplify what we already have... not tear down what we already have.

Say there was a latter day revelation given on stem cell research, or abortion, or tobacco use. This would give us additional light.... but not tear down what we already have in the fullness of the gospel. OTOH if we have a revelation like D&C 132 that teaches polygamy, which the BoM bitterly condemns, no excuses, no exceptions... then you can know that D&C 132 is a false revelation and should be rejected.

The fullness of the gospel means that God has revealed all that is necessary for Man to return to live with him. Not every dispensation has had the "fullness of the gospel."

This does NOT mean that God is done speaking to his children or to his prophets as you incorrectly assume.

I'll point out that you used the word "revelation" and not the scripture you quoted.

The fullness of the gospel is not the same as receiving revelation from God in regards to the running of His church.

Sometimes the facts need to be set straight. Meat Bot thinks he tells the truth but he lies. "fulness vs. new" is the lie. And like the anti-christs of the Book of Mormon, he knows it's a lie.

If Meat Bot had a wife who I thought was the town whore because I saw her coming out of Fred's house, yet Meat Bot would not believe it because he knows the truth, then I could ask a question such as...Why does Mrs. Meat Bot walk around town shaking her toosh? or Why does Mrs. Meat Bot wear revealing clothes?

I don't want an answer. I just want Meat Bot to know the "truth" about his wife and I want others to know about Meat Bot's wife.

The Book of Mormon talks about continual and personal revelation - it's part of "the fullness of the Gospel."

Receiving modern-day revelation through a modern-day prophet to help us apply eternal principles to modern-day situations is PART of the "fullness of the gospel." You're mistaken to think the two are mutually exclusive; in fact, they go hand-in-hand.

Doctrine and continuing revelation are not one and the same. When you pray to god, do you not hope to get revelation or answers from God to help you? that is revelation, but does not change the Gospel. Mormons believe that revelation can help us in our daily lives. Revelation from god is continuous and should not end for anyone to remain abreast of the challenges of today.
The world has changed so much from the end of the Bible and Book of Moron.
Accordingly God reveals truth to us to help us deal with the world as it is presently constituted.

The fulness of the gospel does not mean that everything has been revealed. The gospel is actually very simple.

AGAIN

"Fullness of the gospel" does not mean "complete doctrine"

The gospel is a very specific and key part of the Doctrine of God.

Thanks
