how many a day?

Varies ...

I work four days per week in my company's head office. Normally I arrive at 8:30 and finish at 5:30-6:00, having taken an hour for lunch. The exception to this will be if I've been out the night before - my boss is very lenient towards hangovers and it is acceptable to rock up any time before midday.

Now, I do muck around a lot whilst in the office - just because I'm there doesn't mean I'm working. I spend a lot of time on Facebook and on here, and also just walking around talking to people. So in all, I am probably productive for between four and five hours per day.

On the other day, I am based at a client site and am generally in the office 9:30 - 6:30 with half an hour for lunch. I obviously don't muck around as much because it is a client site and I have to make a good impression, and I don't have any friends to go and talk to. But, I can only do part of my job as there are certain duties that I am not allowed to undertake from a client site, so even though I worked for more hours, I go home feeling less productive!!!

I actually work about 10-30 minutes in any given 8 hour day. the rest of the time is sitting waiting for emergencies to occur.

My day is one of monotonous boredom separated by hours of mind numbing tedium.

But, the pay is great and when an emergency does occur, I jump through more hoops than a performing dog in a 3 ring circus.

How about you?

2 hours per day. I took early retirement 6 months ago. I got fed up of being at home. I had done all the D.I.Y.jobs that had been piling up for ages, then I came to a full stop and boredom set in. About 6 weeks ago I started on this job, 10 hrs. a week is o.k. It gets me out of the house. Prior to retirement I was working between 40 and 55 hrs. per week.

up until a few weeks ago - anywhere between 8 and 12 hours in the office. I've decided that's bad for my health and happiness after 15 years so i quit. now I'm not working any but I don't suppose it'll last ;-)
