The secret to uinderstanding Revelation is to know what was going on then and there. Then a person with good intentions will not get all screwed up.

Biblical hebrew did not have a word for heaven. The word that is used is the word for "sky". In other words, there is no way to distinguish between "heaven" and "sky" in Biblical Hebrew.

Do I believe Heaven is "up in the sky?" No.

Did the writers of scripture believe Heaven is up in the sky?
I think it is hard to avoid the conclusion that they did.

Do I see a problem here, or a big scandal or expose? No.

Do I see this as a threat to the belief that scripture is inspired? No.

Do I think this is something that needs to be explained away by a tortuous and implausable interpretation of what the writers "really" meant? No.

I am a Christian, but not a fundamentalist.

Scripture speaks deeply to me about my relationship with God and with my fellow humans. That's where I experience its inspiration. Worrying about this sort of thing is, to me, a distraction.

The Book of Revelation in the Bible has an Egyptian - Grecian - Roman twist to it (my view).

Heaven (in Revelation) is modeled on parts of the Old Testament and how the city of Babylon was laid out.

That's my understanding.

Heaven, in accordance to the Bible, is a non everlasting place the place the righteous congregate. God is there, and angels, and beasts that we've basically glimpses of in the two the previous testomony (extremely in Ezekiel one million), and the recent testomony (Revelation 6, Revelation 7, and others). it extremely is non everlasting, by way of fact God will make a clean heaven later, as he will make a clean Earth to boot.

The Bible describes Heaven now (up in the sky) and the New Heaven which will be together with the new earth. Have to know which one is being talked about when you read it.

If all people around the world say Heaven is up there, it's no wonder we all disagree. We'd be pointing in all directions.
