He graduates in late november, and he said he could do some recruiting thing to stay home for 30 days or something? I know the military doesn't care about working on holidays and stuff so they most likely don't care that Christmas is right around the corner..
So how long approximately?

After he graduates, he will take 10 days of leave. Depending on the start date for his MOS (job) training, it is possible to have recruiters assistance. This can be anywhere from 7 to 30 days staying in his home town, helping his recruiter. Just know, it all depends on his school date. The schools do shut down for the holidays, and he most likely will get the recruiters assistance. But be warned, he needs to work after the 10 days off. When I was recruiting, I would have 10-15 people home on recruiters assistance during the holiday season. I would normally work a regular 8 hour day, but that is totally up to the recruiter, some work more, some less. As graduation time gets closer, you will know what is going to happen and if he will get the time or not.

When I went thru bootcamp I was able to come home for 10 days after bootcamp. I don't think recruiter's assistance would be available until after he is in the fleet. I had recruiters assistance for 30 days over Christmas but that was after I was in the fleet for a year. Contact your local recruiter and talk to him about it. It probably really depends on when his school starts. I can't see them allowing that until after he is done with his schooling, but you never know. It can sometimes be tough to get because it is something almost every Marine tries for and your unit has to allow it. Just call his recruiter, talk to him, and try and get the paperwork going. If he can't do it after bootcamp, you can get him on the list for some other time in the future. Thank him for his service for me!!!

I am a Marine, so I know that they get 10 days then they go to MCT or SOI. From there they go straight to their MOS school. After and sometimes during MOS school they can go home and do recruiters assistance. But after their MOS school is over, they get to take leave.
