The Bible teach that there is no such sin as small and big. All people will go to eternal hell fire because of their sins whether great or small. The apostle Paul said, "For the wages of sin is death..." (Rom 6:23) So whether you lied about your some petty thing or you killed 7 million people both are still sin in the sight of God that deserves to be judge with eternal damnation. A reason why we need Christ... "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ out Lord." Rom 6:23

Is armed robbery a greater crime than shoplifting a candy bar? Certainly there are varying degrees of lawlessness (the bible definition of sin is lawlessness), however the sin of rejecting Christ as savior obviously carries the greatest consequence.

There is such a sin that is "unto death", meaning the death of the soul. This is also called mortal sin in Catholicism. MInor sins are called venial sins. Sins may be forgiven. Unforgiven sins can trouble the subconscious which in turn may affect the brains autonomic functions and slowly cause death.

I heard it described, we see sin here on earth as varied as Mount Everest and the ocean floor. God seeing sin is like going into outer space and seeing earth as all the same. Sin is sin yes.

When Jesus speaks those words, He is referring to the Jewish leaders who have "delivered" Him. Jesus is basically saying that they (the Jewish leaders) are the sinners, not Him (Jesus). This statement really wasn't intended for Pilate, it was for the Jewish leadership who would have understood what Jesus was saying.

And what was Jesus saying. Basically, He is referring to the way the Pharisees were. The way they were lying, the way they were not Honoring God the Father, and how corrupt they actually were.

God Bless

according to scripture, there is a sin UNTO DEATH
according to scripture there is a sin NOT UNTO DEATH
that is why the catholic church teaches mortal sin (which leads to death--(hell)
that is why the catholic church teaches venial sin (which does not kill the life of grace in our soul, but weakens it. It is just a lesser evil, but evil nonethless.
