Out of curiousity are the two related or similar? I know that each has a different founder, but am curious to what their beliefs are and why they seem so secretive. I believe Kirsty Alley, John Travolta, and Tom Cruise are apart of Christian Science. Any clarifications?

No, they are not the same, or share any real similar beliefs for that matter.

Scientology is cult/religion started by a bad science fiction author named L. Ron Hubbard in 1952. It is really more of a commercial enterprise/scam than a true religion, with adherents having to pay more and more money for training in dubious Scientologist 'techniques' to remove bad 'engrams' from your spiritual being or 'thetan'.

Christian Science is a religious teaching that preaches spiritual healing according to Bible interpretations by Mary Baker Eddy in 1875. Christian Scientists are often members of the Church of Christ, Scientist. They see the world as totally spiritual in nature, and all physical phenomena are merely illusions. By focusing on the spiritual, one can effect miraculous changes in the illusory physical realm. (Which is actually very similar to the plot of The Matrix).

Kirstie Alley, John Travolta, Tom Cruise and other celebrities like Jenna Elfman and Jason Lee are Scientologists, not Christian Scientists.

Lord no! Mary Baker Eddy founded Christian Scientism on the Bible. L. Ron Hubbard founded Scientology on a bar bet and wrote his own "scripture". Christian science is not a mystery religion. All you have to do is go to one of their reading rooms and find out all about them. Scientology has basically become a giant pyramid corporation, with those at the top making the most money.

Christian Science and Scientology are two completely different belief systems and are 100% unrelated to one another. The previous bases traditional Christianity and the literal interpretation of the Bible as the ultimate scientific knowledge. The latter is a so-called spiritual betterment path to enlightment founded by L. Ron Hubbard, who allegedly started it on a bet and said that if a man wants to get really rich, he should start his own religion.

No - the ones you listed are Scientologists, which is different than Christian Science.
Scientology is based on the teachings (read ramblings) of L Ron Hubbard, a science fiction writer. The core beliefs are that humans were once Thetans, a race of extra-terrestrials - who relinquished their god-like powers to enter into (matter, energy, time and space - ie earth). On earth, the process of evolution took place and humans couldn't remember their preexistant state as thetans. So Scientology is there to help us resummon our deity.
Christian Science is all metaphysical - matter is illusion - spiritual is reality - death and disease don't really exist - mind is god and they're here to help us renter the collective consciousness. Sorta of a modern day gnosticism.

They arent related but there is some surface similarity. Both have a thing about doctors. But CS relies on faith, God, and Jesus Christ to take care of some things that most people would go to a doctor for. And Scientology relies on inner ability to do the same. And the people you mentioned are Scientologists.

If none of these answers quite satisfy you then you might search. Its been asked before and some people have answered more extensively.
