It appears that the Number 23 can apply to good guys & bad guys... it's all a matter of perspective!
John Matrix & John McClane both use Evil to fight Evil.
John Milton in the Devil's Advocate uses Evil to get his son, Kevin Lomax, to do the right thing.
Kevin Lomax on the other hand uses his skill as a Lawyer to get his Guilty clients off scot-free.
In Twisted, John Mills (Samuel Jackson) was bumping off Ashley-Judds bedtime companions - In a Twisted way, he thought that he was protecting her.

Very evocative - it's the number of the house where I lived with my parents, in Bristol, from 1941 till I married in 1959. So 23 is a number which always means "home" to me.
Interestingly, I managed to find a long-lost cousin of my mother (after Mum died), with the same first name as Mum, and she also lived in a house numbered 23.

I was born on the 23rd of July . My mother died on the 23 July 1994, the same day I was going to announce my intention to marry my 2nd wife – whos birthday is the 23rd of June. My 3rd wife was born on the 23rd of September.
I like the number 23 !
