The only simple explaniation I could think of.
John 10:10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
I sent you an email. It is about a prayer request.

There are two sides to this. One is just the fact that some unreligious person probably reported you to be mean. Unfortunately, that is the nature of some people, and Yahoo! is limited in what they can do about it. The other side, however, is that the person would at least have to make an argument that you broke the rules. The only rule I can see that you could, arguably, have broken is this: "Do not 'Solicit others for any purpose.'" Arguably, asking for prayers is soliciting. The purpose of this forum is to ask questions for which you require an answer. It is about exchanging information. Asking for prayers is different. Aside of "Ok, I will," there is no answer to that question. It is less about the exchange of information as it is about garnering prayers. So I can kind of see their point... but the only reason anyone would report you for that is to be mean-spirited. All that said, I might add that it is totally unfair that Yahoo! deletes questions and answers without providing you with any explanation whatsoever. That is not right.

Because It's about the power of God.
You get God's attention with prayer. It's power full. Just like everything else they're trying to remove God from.
This Is a dangerous thing.
Look at what happened with Katrina and the fires In California. A nation can reap the sins of It's leader.
That's Biblical.
We need to repent and humble ourselves,so that we can hear from God.(paraphrased)

There is a simple fact about this place. The atheist are organized and work together. You must have made one mad and he called his buddies.
They also hold a majority on the town hall board and the staff at yahoo.
I have been violated for asking if all are having a good day.
Don't give up. Don't let fools wound your spirit or drive for Jesus.
Also stop expecting logic on YA.

Yahoo guidelines are certainly not "God-inspired". Prayer in any form takes away from the world, the self, and the enemy. But censoring the things of God with arbitrary rules won't stop the saints from praying.
In Jesus Name, brother!

All I can think is - it harms satan; he doesn't want to see such 'Godly stuff' out for the world to see :) But knowing it is a violation is what causes me to email you personally for a prayer request and I thank you from my heart. Are we to resort to a 'code' to let other Christians know we are requesting prayer from each other? Well, this is surely one thing we can all pray about for an answer. Blessings, Don and Paula!

I have received several of these violations myself.
After several requests for clarification, I never got an answer that addressed my question. Just a blanket notice that covered all violations.
Can you pray for me? Can only be described as a question.
If it is considered a solicitation then by definition every question ever asked would be considered one, as they petition the recipient of the question for a response.
And who are the cowards who report them?
After all the nonsense funny, "hateful and abusive questions that are posted, how can anyone report a genuine prayer for a dying relative?
Join me now in prayer for god to have mercy on people who report honest prayer requests.
I will keep posting them until yahoo addresses my petition for an answer as to the nature of the violation of service.

Some non believers hammered on the violation report flag until it became an issue.Yahoo answers moderators will have to answer to this someday.
If you don't want to read an occasional prayer request skip over it or go to another site.
Shame on anyone who takes away a person's genuine need of prayer from their Answers friends.

Thus far, I haven't found it necessary to report any questions or answers I've seen with an eye toward removing them. However, I do understand that the forum exists for people to seek information, and a prayer request isn't doing that--at least not from the people it's addressed to.
And who is hurt by the prayer requests? From what I've seen, usually the people making them. If I asked a group of people to pray for a loved one, and I got three responses along the lines of "God is dead--grow up"...doesn't that strike you as hurtful? But it's to be expected here, while it wouldn't happen in a specifically Christian forum.

It should not be a violation! If someone claiming to be an atheist comes here and makes hateful, spiteful, remarks they are in violation as well and their questions or answers should be deleted!!!!
I thought Yahoo! was fixing this wrongful reporting thing! If they claim chatting then we all are guilty of chatting whenever we answer any question!
