Ultimately I think I'm going to agree with you that the Belmont was the race of the year. Going in there was a few horses that really had a chance and at the top of the stretch they were all right there together. Then Rags and Curlin broke loose to duel all the way to the finish.

I think other excellent races include the Preakness... as Street Sense rounded the corner it looked like it was all him but Curlin made it a good race all the way to the finish because for the final eighth you couldn't tell if SS was gonna hold on or if Curlin was gonna get there.

I especially enjoyed the Travers because this unknown longshot came in and headed Street Sense most of the way through the stretch and they dueled it out to a narrow SS win.

I liked the Tampa Bay Derby when Street Sense and Any Given Saturday dueled all the way through the stretch.

The Bluegrass was a good race too with 5 horses getting up for the photo.

All of those were very entertaining races. I think the Classic would have made for an excellent race had it been over a fast track... It would have made Any Given Saturday and Lawyer Ron a lot more competitive and even Street Sense would have finished in the top 3. I'm still very disappointed that they're all retired now and we'll never see what the race really could have been.

The Belmont gets extra points for it being a showdown between the greatest filly and the horse of the year with the filly winning to end the historical stigma that fillies can't win over a mile and a half against the boys in june of their 3 year old year.

I can't pick any one race as the ENTIRE Triple crown series was such a heart stopping event!!! I mean Street Sense's performance in the derby was tremendous and then Curlin coming up to edge him out in the Prekaness... wow and then that filly Rags To Riches edging Curlin out in almost the same margin he beat Street Sense... spectacular. I would say though of the three the Belmont was the most thrilling simply b/c it was the first time in over 100 years that a filly had won it! But like I said I can't pick any one race I gotta say the TC series was hell yeah awesome!!!

Your choice was a fantastic race but here is the horse I am 100% sure would have beaten Curlin (who's a super horse) and Rags (a super filly).........This horse was retired due to an injury and only ran 2 races in 2007........This one in Dubai and the Don Handicap...........I'm talking about Invasor........I have no doubt that if he had made it to the Breeder's Cup Classic every other horse would have been running for 2nd money........I've seen all of Invasor's races and this horse would not allow himself to be beaten........He's a fighter, a warrior like none I've seen in a long, long time........Check out this clip from YouTube.........The Don was a much tougher race for him and even though his jock got him in loads of trouble he still refused to lose...........You can see the Don as well on YouTube.............. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVbN3MLqa9Y ..........CAT

To be honest no one race stands out as a great battle in the same way that Ouija Board v Alexander Goldrun in the Nassau Stakes in 2006 did. If you missed that race watch it here and be prepared to sit onthe edge of your seat! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGsUv4TxD8w

From a personal point of view Light Shift's win in the Epsom Oaks was wonderful to watch - if only to see the crowds reaction to Henry Cecil being back where he belongs. It was very emotional to watch and Herny was so touched he could barely speak.

As far as excitement level, I'd have to agree with you. What a stretch drive in the Belmont. I liked the BC Classic too, although of course it would've been much better had poor GW not fallen.

I would go with street sense winning the kentucky derby.
I doubt this will win the race of the year since I have not seen most races, but street sense ran a good race and won. :)
going to the top and winning consescutively would'nt fit for the race of the year unless it sent a horse to the most money earned. lol :)
