Vengeance only exists in the feeling of one's heart.

For if you forgive, and then shun, then rejoice yourself on their sorrow. That is also vengeance.

But if you forgive, but deliver due punishment only according to God's advice " you shall not kill". Then and only then true justice is being served.

So I will do no vengeance, I will even love my enemies, I might even turn the other cheek......, But I will deliver just punishment if within my power.

Because if I don't, I would be enforcing evil.

So if a serial killer who had have killed someone is on the loose, he is better in a wheelchair feeling sorry at least for himself.

(If a man has not fear and not respect for human life, no matter which position he holds, then time is not punishment enough, and killing him is crime).

God said love your neighbors (or society) as yourself. And as myself I would prefer to be in a wheelchair than killing my neighbor.

Same I would see the administrator as a beggar rather than oppressing the poor.

I have only felt it for one person. My soon to be ex husband and it is more of a passive vengeance. It is the whole reason I make sure I have my sexiest outfit on when I drop off the kids and watch him drool all over himself and laugh and its the whole reason I am going back to school. One day I will be a lawyer and he will still be in sales, capping at 60k a year and I will be making $400 an hr. buahaahahhaha and when he dies I will have sex with my new husband on his grave buhahahah.

That will teach him to cheat on me!

definitely. i dont think there will be many who have never felt the same. i wanted to take revenge so badly that unless i did it, i was sure that i would go mad. but i listened to my mentors words and decided to let it pass. she told me that i would be no different from my offender if i decide to retaliate in the same fashion. she told me that my offender, in fact expects me to do so, since that would give her a fresh chance to start it all over again. so i decided to drop the matter and behave to her and her family in as normal a way as possible. the greatest thing i like abt the whole episode is the look of surprise on her face when i along with my family invited her to my brothers wedding. that was a sweet revenge in itself. she ddint attend the wedding, of course, perhaps too ashamed. but now i have closed the chapter in a peaceful manner. i am now sure that i had offered him the hands of reconciliation, but she rejected it. i dont have to feel guilty abt it anymore.

Felt it but rejected it. Came damn close though. I still bear a bit of a grudge but I can live with that.

I have, and I did so ( thankfully in a minor way), but I found it very unsatisfying so now I just let it go.

I really like jaicee's approach though -- I'm going to have to try it!

Thought about it, sure. We all have. Perhaps I still do not reject the need; but I do reject the action.

One of the most fun and liberating things ever is to get your vengeance on someone by finding some way to bring something good to them and making sure they NEVER know it was you who did it.

No. Having your reactions determined by others' actions makes you a puppet.
