**Despite* the biblical scriptures that say it is wrong? Is it because we try to make the bible conform to what we want it to say? It is not an acceptable sin. I don't remember God saying this sin was excused because, well, it wasn't mentioned by Jesus. It is mentioned in the Bible and is acknowledged as a detestable sin. What more proof is needed than than that?

The question is supposed to read "Why is it that homosexuality is constantly justified?"

God didn't say this sin is to be tolerated. The sin and the person are separate. I can still love the person, and not tolerate the sin.

I'm not asking the non-believers. I am asking for the Christian aspect.

No sin is accepted. Yes, sin is sin, and that is that. But, somehow, this sin is being passed off as if it is the one sin that can be done without judgment. All sin is going to be judged. Jesus came and was crucified so that we could be free from ALL sin. When we receive him as our and savior, we accept the deliverance from the penalty of sin - death. Therefore, we are saved and are to turn from our sinful ways.

Yes, forgiveness is available to those who will believe, but just because you believe, doesn't excuse you from that penalty of that sin, if you choose to execute it.

Jesus does talk about that in the beginning of time, God created male and female. They are to become united as one. Mark 10:6-8

So in a sense, Jesus killed two birds with one stone.

So many people have lost their way in todays time.

I attribute that a large part of this began about 40 years ago when some of our leaders, in all their questionable wisdom, began the process of removing God from our lives...........

Hopefully we are in the beginning stages of turning that idiotic idealism around and retunring our Nation to looking toward God for guidance.....or at the very least , to not prohibit those of us who want to follow God to be allowed to profess Him in public.

Our society justifies homosexuality. Nowhere in the Bible, old or new testament, is it justified. Many people have taken different parts of the Bible and left other parts for their benefit, just look at all the cults. The Beatitudes are harder to live by than the ten commandments, because these Beatitudes are attitudes of the heart. In the new testament homosexuality is an abomination. Our society not only justifies homosexuality, but now openly promotes it.

I think some of the people who have answered so far have a good point. Not everyone believes in the Bible's authority so it's actually not a good idea to hold everyone to the Bible's standard. However, if people profess to believe in the Bible's authority, then you have a leg to stand on. Also, when it comes to homosexuality, there's a difference between sexual orientation, and engaging in premarital sex. I know some Christ-following people who struggle with their homosexuality, but still want to live God-honoring lives, and don't engage in sex. Are they committing sin? No. Are they bigger than heterosexuals who fulfill any and all of their lustful desires? You bet.

Well, according to the Bible all sins are equal. Therefore gays are no more sinful than thieves, liars, and people who discriminate through religious persecution. *hint hint* Also, God supposedly forgives all who repent so it isn't really important.

You must also remember that the Bible is far outdated, and homosexuality is being justified because it is not against our laws. Our laws are what govern our melting pot society, not our religious beliefs.

Also, why would homosexuality have to be justified through Christianity? It is neither the only religion in the world, nor is it the focal point of modern society. So, I advise you to catch up with the times and stop discriminating against gay people, as that IS illegal. *hate crime*

When Jesus talks about an eye for an eye, working on the Sabbath, and eating without washing hands, to name a few examples of sins he committed in the eyes of the legalist Pharisees, he specifically says the rules and laws we have received are not to be followed like accounting rules or human laws. Rather, we are to test what an action or inaction does to our soul and our ability, willingness, and praxis of loving others. I haven't seen anything in your writing that effectively deals with that. You are taking a Mosaic/legalistic perspective here and I personally can't open a Gospel without finding a passage where jesus rails against doing so.

please tell me why what two consenting adults get up to is a concern of a god

If procreation was the goal of everyone then why did your god make many people infertile, most of the planet uninhabitable and resources finite. is starvation better than being a homosexual?

Also - why do you follow this part of your bible but ignore the bits about wearing clothes made with 2 different threads and crop rotation?

Quite frankly it's people like YOU who make me glad I'm an atheist. I can live by the creed "as long as you don't hurt anyone I don't really give a damn what you do" and not worry if I'll be sent to hell for accepting people as they are.

The rich young ruler went away sad when Jesus told him what was involved in gaining eternal life. The rich young ruler did not know that God was willing to change his life in order for him to enjoy eternal life.

I think homosexuals can't change their feelings for other men, so if God said He doesn't like it, then He must not like them, either. However, Jesus can change our hearts so that we give up what hinders eternal life, whether it be our lust for riches or for other people. The homosexuals don't see that. The cure for homosexuality is the same as the cure for hoarding riches: the work of the Holy Spirit to convince the person to let go of that for something greater.

when you find out the bible was modified and re translated into what exists today

you realize hate and exclusion was not what Jesus taught, but more what Paul taught and then others ran with it

translated from Greek to Latin and English, only after 1976 did we find the word homosexuality that replaced the word lust, etc

there was a campaign by the "moral majority" types to get it changed so then "the word of god" showed justified discrimination

think about it...what would jesus have done? he didn't hang out with the perfect, in fact he was at odds with those like what you were describing, all pious and pretensive and who missed the message of inclusion and love

The bible, or the 'man written book', has many crazy verses. And the verse you are referencing, having to do with a man should not lay with a man the way he lays with a woman can also be interpreted in many different ways. You dont see people stoning their small boys to death for disobeying them do you? Well..it says to do that in the bible... the sooner you realize that MAN wrote the bible, the sooner you will have a more loving life, instead of hating people for not being like you.

Well there is a catch 22 isn't it? People who are transgendered, like maybe they weren't born the right sex and in their souls, they are a woman and not a man, so if they are with a woman- are they sinning? I am a Christian, but I always thought that gay people were supposed to be born the other sex, so I guess that leaves a lot of things to be questioned.
