Do you see it as a day to honor all persons that served in the military (both wartime and peacetime), or just those that served during wartime?

I think about my Grandfather who was in the U.S. Navy when Pearl was attacked. He barely escaped with his life. He used to tell me the true stories of Heroes who never gave up. He described watching a Marine with a pistol trying to shoot down Japanese planes because that is the only weapon he had on him. The courage of men going down with their ships while still manning the guns. These were true men of courage, they were beat up but not beaten.

It's a day to honor every body that has ever served in the military. Being a veteran doesn't mean you HAD to serve our country during wartime, a veteran is someone who has been in the military.

God Bless every soldier!

I think of the 75 shipmates I lost during the 15 years I flew with the US Navy... ALL lost in training incidents during peace-time.

To ME, it is to recognize first, those who served during wartime and second those who served in peace. It's also a good day to go taunt the spoiled liberal patchouli oil reeking hippy wanna-be's at UC Berkeley.

I miss you Wally, Nick, Gator, Wendy, Steve, VP-50 Crews, et al... God Bless you my Shipmates

It means remembering those who served past & present; at peace or in war. All their sacrifices allow the freedoms we have now.

We are volunteering at the local VFW to serve a luncheon to the local Vets Saturday & helping Sunday at our church is putting together encouragement packages for the wounded & recovering Vets.

I show respect for all who served past and present, combat or peace.
I have a hard time thanking myself, because I realize now, there was much more I could of done while I was in but didnt do.

it means to me, remembering all those military/civililian who gave there lives, including those in the holocust, for the generations to come to have a peaceful life, to be able to be who you are, worship who you believe, walk where you want, speakto who you want, be able to voice your opinions, be educated, and treated as a human being, hitler took so much away from those unfortunate to be occupied under him, so did stalin, and the japanese emperor, all where dictators, meglia maniacs, all dead now thank god, but they caused death, destruction, 1939---1945. millions suffered, still suffer today, millions died, so its only right and fitting that for 3minutes at 11am nov 11th, we should remember them, for they gave there todays, for our future tommorrows, right now there is conflicts going on, so remember those brave men /women as well, many of these wont come home.
