No. I thought that I could...and I tried a vocation to the religious life...but - I couldn't do it. I need people...I need the world around me. It's how I was wired. It's how I was called to do ministry.

A monastery is a wonderful place to visit and get "my batteries recharged" - but - I could NOT live there.

At least not now.

Possibly. Monks make some of the best beer in the world. But I'd probably have to drink more than my share of it to deal with the fact that it's a monastery.

Maybe for a week of silence and contemplation during a St Ignatius retreat,as an abode no.
As my brother is a religious(redemptorists) and lives on an island(Papa Stronsay) several hours by boat of the mainland(Scotland) that alone for me is too much to stomach.
