Well even though i am an atheist, i would argue, no, christian values were not responsible for that. My niece goes to a private christian school and i went to see a play during the school day there, and i saw people hugging everywhere, including teachers hugging students. Schools are by and large secular and they are usually controlled by strict nonsensical rules...usually not christian based. The school has a rule against hugging, the girl broke the rule, she got detention. Whats the story there?

The lack of Christian values is more likely to be responsible. Some of these questions show just how little people know about Christianity and Christ.

Why are you blaming Christians for this? Nowhere did it say anything about any particular group or religion. And for the record, I'm a Christian, and we always hug our close friends, male or female, so I think that someone getting in trouble for hugging a friend whose parent died is ridiculous.
When you bash Christians like that, you're just showing your intolerance and hate.

No. It's the result of two issues. 1) Being sued. 2) The lack of Christian 'values' in our society. Christianity promotes a Christ-like love between people. We're next door in Mississippi and our church kids hug all the time. Girls hug each other and guys and girls hug. It's not sexual and expresses a common love Christians have for others. True enough, our guys don't hug each other much...they think that's gay, but they will hug older men, like myself. But we keep it manly; handshake and hug at the same time.
But to answer your question, if there was more Christian behavior in our society, there would be less conflict like your example.

Hell no they're not! it's the LACK of values that causes school systems to react like that!
If parents would teach their children that certain things are wrong (such as sex, OMG) then the school systems wouldn't have to play big brother and punish people for hugging, because it wouldn't be a problem.
Some kid must have hugged a member of the opposite sex to find out just how large his or her sexual organs were for this to happen. and honestly, that same kid is the pervert that should have been punished, not the rest of the kids!
my boyfriend's old school has banned winnie the pooh from every single thing they do, and they can't keep tennis rackets in their lockers, because the principal went out of his mind and thinks EVERYTHING is gang related. you can't even wear the color BLUE to school, or wear a t-shirt that has your favorite band on it. that's damn close to uniforms, buddy!
Parents really need to step up and take charge of their children's behavior, and then the school systems won't do it for them in outlandish and outrageous actions.

WHAT? You are totally wrong by saying that! Why would christians be responsible for this situation. I am a christian and I hug people all the time and encourage my kids to do so as well. You are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy off kilter.

I think the world is losing it's touch with touch. A hug means a thousand words. I am a hugger. There is nothing better to express the concern for the person you are hugging. They wonder why kids carry guns into schools and kill people.

This has nothing to do with Christian values. The whole issue is about liberals going crazy over sexual harassment. Absolutely nothing to do with Christian's
the story itself says it is due to sexual harassment lawsuits.

Absolutely not, in fact I think it goes the other way of extreme political correctness. That is "don't dare let anyone do anything which could possibly be misconstued."
