I think it was Einstein who once said that the most brilliant man who ever lived possessed about 3% of the total knowledge of the world. Therefore us regular folks probably possess about 2%.

Isn't it possible that in the 98% you don't know there exists a God? Sorry to say but you will NEVER possess enough knowledge to come to the conclusion there is no God. Having said that, isn't it clear that atheism is intellectual arrogance and dishonesty?

If you claimed to be agnostic at least thats honest and I can respect that. As for me, in my 2% God has made it quite clear that he exists through overwhelming evidence in the Bible and in my life. Also see 'Evidence That Demands A Verdict' by Josh McDowell.

I feel very sorry for anybody who doesn't have enough knowledge to prove the tooth fairy, easter bunny or santa clause doesn't exist.

I'm a very sceptical person and I've had to do much study to come to my conclusions. There are answers which will satisfy anyone who is willing to honestly weigh the evidence. Please study the bible along with the book I mentioned(among other apologetics) with an open mind.

The difference between myself and an atheist is that there is overwhelming evidence on my side and little to none on yours.

Where is the evidence for the belief that God does not exist? I mean other than whining about pain and suffering on planet earth. Which is nothing but an immature understanding of our lives here.

*sighs* There is not one single shred of evidence to prove those things exist. If they existed there would be at least some. And there is not one single rational thinking person who believes they exist.

For God, on the other hand, there is a mountain of evidence for those with an open mind. And literally billions of people have believed in and had their lives drastically impacted by Him.

Nuff said

There a lot to respond to here. I believe the quote is from Jefferson, not Einstein.

God is supposedly omnipresent, and my .00001% knowledge of his non-existence rules that particular God out.

I can't know anything for certain. God may exist, we may be hooked up to the Matrix, we may be inside a giant alien's marble, but I feel safe ruling all these absurdities out equally.

"Evidence that Demands a Verdict" first assumes that the Bible is a reliable source, then concludes that the Bible is true. It's a classic example of circular logic.

Hmm...makes me want to ask you a question, Midnight: Why did God stop making it "quite clear that he exists through overwhelming evidence in the Bible" at the point right after the New Testament ends? There haven't been any factual reports of any REAL miracles, like resurrecting a dead body, since Jesus was crucified, died, was buried, rose again on the third day, then ascended into heaven, after which he pretty much closed the chapter on the New Testament.

I think you need to look up the word "evidence" in a respectable dictionary; you will find that "evidence" and "belief" are not the same thing. My point is that you BELIEVE in the existence of the god of the Bible, but you most certainly have zero EVIDENCE of this god's existence. You "believe in belief" as some atheists would say. Sorry back at you, but you too will NEVER possess enough knowledge to come to the conclusion there IS a god.

I'm not sure about where your so-called education is gleaned from. Sounds like your 'education' is from a church.

Open minded. I took theology - you are not allowed an open mind. You MUST believe. I did not see that as being able to have an open mind.

There is no evidence for any god or goddesses short of mythology which is not evidence at all. Apologetics? Why would anyone want to defend what they claim is the truth? This makes no sense. If it is the truth, it certainly can be questioned, but the truth is what it is and can very easily be proven. This would never have to be argued or apologized for.

To be an agnostic is simply being uncertain. It stands on middle ground - it protects itself from either direction. Again, either you believe or you do not.

Overwhelming evidence is not available. It there were such evidences or truths why would not every holy book ever written or read in the same way? There would be no question of the truth and honesty of itself.

Atheism is the absence of belief in gods, not the belief in the absence of gods.

The description of the Christian God is a logical contradiction. If you like, you could say the fact that God doesn't exist is within the 2% of the world's knowledge that I have. Of course 2% is an absurdly large figure, but that's not the point.

If you had even a single shread of credible evidence, you would mention it. Or better yet you could write a book, I guarantee it would be the #1 bestseller for at least a decade. If all you have is 'the Bible says so, so it's true' then I assure you that is not what Einstein meant by knowledge.

Your "question " shows great arrogance and stupidity . For one thing Einstein's 2% is only a wild guess . He had no way of arriving at that figure . " Never have enough knowledge ". Where did that come from ? Another stupid guess .
If the only overwhelming evidence that you have is from a bunch of scribblings made two thousand years ago by goat herders and fishermen , who were so superstitious that they were afraid of their own shadows , and had no special knowledge or training in anything they wrote about , good for you . To me , I have more confidence in Grim's Fairy Tales .
I read Josh McDowell's New Evidence . I have a copy right here in front of me right now. He mis-named the book . It should have been named No Evidence . Practically the entire book is quotes from other writers . It has the biggest bibliography I've ever heard of .

First, good for you on your statement of faith. I'm sure that means something to someone. As for the book, I just can't see spending $14.99 for a set of fairy tales at my age.

Do you really feel that it is intellectual arrogance to stop believing in the tooth fairy, Santa Claus, jesus, and the boogieman? There is an equal amount of empirical evidence for each of them; unfortunately for three of them they were never developed into a religion.

An agnostic is usually just an atheist that hasn't quite overcome all the indoctrination and brain-washing they received as a child. Please don't confuse fact with fairy tales.
Atheists believe in things that can be proven. God, or any religious belief for that matter, is a matter of faith. As such, it lies outside the realm of knowledge, science, and the natural world.
I'd love a link to that Einstein quote, my guess is that you have taken it out of context as religious people are so prone to doing.

Nope! The Christian Bible has talking snakes, a flat Earth, a firmament, unicorns, giants, and lots of other crap that makes no senses. Jehovah is part if that mythology. Therefore, Jehovah in paticular does not exist.

Also, no. Atheism is a lack of belief in a god or gods. THAT'S IT. Any definition atheism other than is a strawman.

Also, YOU are the arrogant one here, for thinking you're the first one to have ever thought if that. (I personally call it the Shaggy Dog) argument because they usually go on and on and on about how big the universe, and when they get to the point it's that "you don't know everything " WE KNOW!!.

Or perhapse you're not arrogant, maybe you' ex heard the Shaggy a Dog argument before and are now repeating it. In which case, that's just kind of sad, man.

Is it not time you realized your total arrogance in asking such questions?

Atheists and other religions make up the vast majority of people on this planet yet you as a Christian suggest they are mindless morons because they do not believe your religion!!!!!

There is little in the bible that is supported by fact and indeed any academic test would find it seriously wanting.

Christianity is a faith and you should not be seeking proof.

What you demonstrate in this question is that you espouse Christianity but live a very sinful life of egotism, boastfulness, denigrate others, show intolerance and bigotry. Wow - if all Christians are like you - other religions and atheists are going to be at the back of the queue at the final judgment!!!!

The Christian church is being destroyed from within by such attitudes!!!

Perhaps aetheism is intellectual arrogance but therefore people who r aethiests r smarter than people who believe in religion, atleast thats the way i could argue is what u mean.

But also in this 98% u say we don't know, there's a greater chance it's proof that god doesn't exist, so ya winning a losing battle here. People who r aethiests r smart for choosing so, and people argue for there religion r people who hate to be proved wrong and so only accept actual answers that can be proven, and therefore no theoretical proofs.

Sucks to be religious tbh, ya believing in something which won't affect u till ya die, so ya playin a losing battle. Ya gonna die eventually, and u'll not be able to think 'oh, av lived a good religious life' cos u'll be dead, thats just life tbh.

1) The Bible is not evidence of its own truth.
2) To claim to have certain knowledge of a god's existence is arrogance. Suppose in that 98% uncertainty you are claiming there is irrefutable evidence that god does not exist.
3) Einstien often spoke figuratively. Even he, as brilliant as he was, has no way of quantifying how much knowledge of the world there is.

Sorry, your argument has no basis.
