Not so much less intelligent... Less educated is more like it. Here in rural North Carolina we have more people who never finished high school and has never lived more than 20 miles from the place they were born, thus only know what their mom and dad taught them to be "da twoof" to be valid.

More old fashioned... Yes.. I have a nineteen year old cousin who dropped out of high school because she wanted to join a band of travelling Christian ventriloquists (I'm not kidding), married some dude she met online so she could have sex, and lives in a house with him and ten people. Me? I went to University, have a successful career, and am working toward getting my PhD. She's considered the successful one because she's married and doing Christian work.

More indoctrinated? Yes. What mom and dad taught you goes.

More moral? Haha. Just when they're at church.

I live in Mississippi. It's a combination of everything you posted- less in general, more old fashioned and more indoctrinated. The ruling class would much rather see everyone in church than in school or university.

As far as morality? Hah. They're like everyone else.

I believe research has proved that believers and non-believers come form all walks of life.
Highly intellegent people are both believers and non believers.
The Bible says it is not by a man's wisdom he knows God but through revelation from God.

The part of America known as the "Bible Belt" historically has the worst education rates.

Easy math there, people.

Yes, what you are referring to is the "Bible Belt" in this
country, and it is just as simple as that...
People in general are more serious about reading their
Bibles and letting what they read affect their daily lives.

I think it is because they are more/less religious than other areas.

its not any one thing, but i think rural/urban figures into the equation. more rural usually = more religious. this goes for any religion.
