I currently live in Vermont, and am seeking info on attaining a permanent residence card in Canada.?

I am aware of the point system, but would like to know more about work visas, etc. if i could temporarily work there, then apply for a prc once i'm already living there.

It goes by points. You get points if you have the job skills/education that are deemed useful in Canada, have family in Canada, or can speak French/English. Whoever has the most points fills the quota in any given year.
