No Doubt About It....

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

They are smart loveable dogs, they are not yappy dogs, but they are considered part of the toy group. I am attaching a great website for you research.

A butterfly dog.

Also known as a Pappilion.

This dog is known as a wash and wear dog.

The Papillon is a small, friendly, elegant toy dog of fine-boned structure, distinguished from other breeds by its beautiful butterfly-like ears. The Papillon is one of the oldest of the toy breeds. Papillons were bred for companionship, and make excellent watch dogs.

The Papillon is a happy lively little dog, extremely intelligent and quite certain in its own mind that it is really a large dog in a small body. It has a lively and outgoing temperament and should show no signs at all of aggressiveness. It is quite happy enjoying long walks with its owner and is equally content curling up in front of the fireplace at home, or more usually on its favourite chair. Its coat, the texture of which should be silky and fine, needs little attention, a few minutes a day should suffice, ensuring no tangles have developed especially under forearms. ear fringes and trousers. A toy breed, the papillon should be between 8" to 11" inches to the shoulders, with fine bone. The Papillon is a relatively healthy breed and whilst Patella Luxation and more recently P.R.A. have appeared in the breed as a general rule the breed is sound.

I Really Hate Yippie dogs.

This puch we got is REALLY Smart and REALLY fast.

He was VERY easily trained and Loves to show affection.

He has the mornfull look when begging for attention.

Was a fantastic friend for our aging retriever. They play so well together.

We have 4 kids and she obeys ALL of them.

at bedtime, anyone of us can tell her to go to cage, and she just gets up and walks in. Then they give her a treat.

She ONLY barks at the appropriate times and it is mean sounding bark, but also not the anoying yippie sound.

She is a cuddler.

She is one of the Fastest running dogs I have ever seen and is very agile. She loves to play and is never agressive toward the kids.

Ours was a MUT and was the Discardable Black color.

I mean puppy mills will just let them die if they are born BLACK. so we resuced her and she is the best small dog I have Ever seen. (45 years)

Yorkies, chihuahuas, Pomeranians, min pins, and min. poodles sound yappy when they bark. It's annoying when they're barkers - if the particular dog isn't a barker though it wouldn't much matter if you owned them. Proper training can cure most barking. Westies and Min. Schnauzers don't have a yappy bark. Shih Tzu's and spaniels don't either. My neighbor has a maltese and I don't know what they sound like because she's quiet. From what I remember I don't think Pugs or American Eskimos are yappy sounding either.

Most toy breeds and small terriers are yappy unless trained NOT to be. Poodles are def intelligent and I have had 2 toy poodles and currently have 4 minpins and have owned and fostered many minpins. Minpins are cute, weigh between 6 and 25lbs, short haired, obed train well, and if TRAINED are not yappy. Their energy levels vary from very active to pet rocks. I have owned and/or foster every diff variety. There are hundreds of minpins in rescues. www.minpinrescue.org (IMPS) has minpins in all of the USA and a few in Canada.

A chihuahua. I personally have two of them. They are not yappy. In fact my teacup chi actually has quite a threatening growl and bark. They are very intelligent, loyal and protective. They can range anywhere in size from 2 pounds to 15 pounds. (mixed breed) Full breed is usually around 8 to 10 pounds. They have short hair or long hair, apple head or deer head. Apple head has a more rounded head, deer head looks exactly like that a deer head. They love to snuggle but are also fine by themselves. They have lots of energy but can maintain excercise by a brief run in the back yard. or by throwing chew toys for them. They live usually 10 to 15 years. They are very cute. You can add to their cuteness by dressing them in cute outfits. Good luck to you and your new pet

I think you have to decide that. Look up dog breeds on the internet. I recently got a toy Pom--she is adorable, but a bit yippy at times. I think all small dogs are because that is just their little doggy voice. She has been a hand full to potty train too, but her sweet little disposition has gotten her out of a lot of trouble. She is after all just a baby.

try this web site there is a test which will help you narrow down the field and work out which breed is best for you. that's how I decided on my mini dachshund for a breed. he is a pound puppy and just perfect. check out your local shelters once you have an idea of breed in mind.

I am a single woman who works full time shift work. I have just adopted a 3yo mini dachshund through pet rescue.

in my case I got exactly what I wanted and the costs were up front. my dog came to me house trained, desexed, microchiped, vaccinated, wormed and vet checked.

being a 3yo he is out of that digging, chewing, peeing destructive stage.

the joy of an older dog for me is the responsibility is lessened by the fact he is already trained and house broken which means more time can be spent bonding and playing instead of obedience classes.

his great with other animals.

mini short haired dachshunds (sausage dogs)don't really shed fur, are smart, they have big dog barks in a little dog body, people love to stop and pat them because they are soo cute and unusual and are fantastic with kids.

my nephew is 15months old, he walks my dog around the back yard by his ear. pokes the dog in the eyes. pats my dog by slapping. he pulls the dogs tail. steals the dogs food and still my dogs has never so much as licked in retaliation, the dog also carries the kids sippy cup around the back yard (by the handle) for when the kid wants it again

we do watch the kid and dog to ensure safe play but 15month old kids just go so fast.
my dachshund is a 3yo rescue, which is something you might want to consider

another option is the bichion frise, they have wool instead of fur and so cute, here is some sites that might be able to help

German Shephard is out of the question, since you want small. So, hmmm, let me think. We have a terrier and he's a yapper. I think Shizo's are cute. Not sure about the yappying part of it.
