We're getting married next week and we've put cheap disposable cameras into the childrens activity packs with a list of photos to get.

So far we've got; a picture of the best dancer, the biggest hat, parents dancing, the highest heels, groom without a drink, bride dancing, bride/groom eating wedding cake etc.

Anyone have any other suggestions for photos a child could take?

We know we'll get more pictures of the floor and ceiling than of people, but the idea is more to give the children a 'mission' to keep them occupied. So the more challenging the better.

A relative you never knew you had.
A group of people laughing/smiling.
Someone holding flowers
Another child dancing.
A couple holding hands.
A couple kissing.
yourself (as in the child/a photo of themselves).

I think what you are doing is a really good idea, wish i had thought of it for my wedding, hope it all goes well.

Best photo of the floor and ceiling - - - might mean you'll get people in the shots!
I did the pics @ my Aunt & Uncle's 50th Anniversary party and did the disposable camera thing. I spent $300 developing pictures for their album and couldn't use half of them -- in particular once the adults let the kids play with the cameras. And you've got to pay up in order to figure out *if* there are any good shots on the camera.
I will NEVER EVER do this again.
And BTW, the adults all took the same exact freakin' pictures! I asked that they insure everyone at the table was photographed, nope. I had a zillion pictures of the first dance and the cake cutting and their kids/grandkids introductions.
Then there were the people who thought they could take the cameras home with them and I was chasing people down at the door to collect the cameras.
Again, will NEVER do this again. It is a total pain and a waste of money.

Go here for the best photography course: http://photography-course.info

You can be like the masses of humanity and buy a camera you can afford that has auto this and that for worry free picture taking. And learn through trial and error how to use something like aperture or shutter priority auto modes or even attempt to use the thing on full manual mode.
You seem to know already there is some thinking to using a camera and to take pictures. A good place to start is by reading the owners manual that comes with a camera. Read the information and look at the illustrations with part names and look at the real camera. Handle the camera and take pictures. Let me rephrase that. Take pictures to learn how to use the camera and maybe even to keep some. Don't start with important stuff you cannot photograph over again such as birthdays, a toddlers first steps. That puts picture taking out of the learning phase and puts the pressure and emphasis to taking pictures for real and to keep.
These first pictures are for you to learn how to use your camera. And you have learned how to use your camera when you can take pictures with it and can teach others how to use it. Honest. You can also go to a college in your area and take a beginning photography course. There you will be taught the basics even a pro must learn and do in their work. Camera handling and use, taking exposures with film and/or digital cameras, and maybe even some photo assignments to get some real time learning. In this learning do not take serious pictures you must keep as that detracts from the learning aspect of the class. Do so only if you have mastered the use of your camera before class is over.
It's like growing up in a way. And I am happy you know there is a way to learn how to use a camera and take pictures. It's like learning how to drive I suppose. Someone can teach you or you can get taught at a driving school. Both will get you a drivers liscense. One though will really teach you the fundamentals you can use for the rest of your driving career.

You don't say how old the children are but I would have thought asking them to take special pictures would be good. Point out that the best photos will go in an album or something so that they try and take good pictures rather than just muck around.

Have a lovely day!

This is a great idea. Can't really add to this idea but went to a wedding recently where the bridesmaid took a polaroid picture of each guest (after the ceremony and before the dinner, when everyone is having a drink). She gave it to them and asked them to put it in the album with a message. This was a great keepsake. You can buy special albums with one picture per age with space for a message underneath.

What a cute idea! Love it!
- someone wearing blue (or any specific color), polka dots, stripes, etc.
- someone the same age as they are
- the present they would most like to open
- something that starts with (a certain letter)
- the bride and groom talking to a guest together
- a picture of someone else taking a picture
- a man who isn't wearing a tie

Just wanted to say I think this is a clever way to keep children occupied. You could do the prettiest girl, the youngest person, the maid of honor, the tallest man, the flower girl and ringbearer, the person with the most food on their plate, the person with the biggest smile...
