I have made a friend in China, I love the country because of the food, Art, Style. I would really really love to go there on day but I’m a little bit sceptical, mainly because I don’t know if they accept black people into their country/culture....

I visited China last year and have a friend who taught there for about 3 or 4 years. While there is prejudice in China, it certainly is not to the level of hatred that you see here. In fact, if you go just about anywhere else in the world for any period of time - when you come back to the US you will clearly see just how insane the racism is here. The only place I've been where it has been worse is South Africa - and even then it depends on where you go.

In general though, you'll be looked at as an American first and black second; if they've never dealt with black people they might have stereotypes (usually harmless stuff - like that we can all sing or play basketball). But those are easy to overcome. The bigger thing though is just the reception to foreigners in general. As a whole, most of the people that I met were very friendly and polite to foreigners and were sometimes a bit in awe of westerners. But for some there was a bit of hestitation simply because in the past, many people were penalized for getting to know foreign people (communist system).

I'd say, if you have a chance to visit - do it! Don't worry about racism. If you can survive the US, you can survive anywhere. Be open. Use your experiences as a minority - understanding what it feels like to be discriminated against - to help you. By that I mean, since you might know what it is to be ignored or treated badly - don't do it other people. Really listen and try to absorb what you see. Don't make judgements about what you see - just seek to understand. Enjoy your time there. I really loved it there and would like to visit again. It is a great country.

Tip: Buy the Lonely Planet travel guide if you go - it is very good. Read it before you book a trip to the Great Wall.

Have a blast!!!

Chinese people don't know what racist is and never behave like one. But they can be a bit in awe when facing westerners that's because maybe they are worried that their English are not good enough to communicate.
Generally, they are kind to whatever colour foreigners and try their best to help.

sure,welcome....we love black pepole, every other country is ok ...come on!
if you wanna come to China, maybe you should take a visa...a Chinese visa is a permit issued to a foreigner by the Chinese visa authorities for entry into, and exit from or transit through the Chinese territory. The Chinese visa authorities may issue a diplomatic, courtesy, service or ordinary visa to a foreigner according to his identity, purpose of visit to China and passport type. Hereunder is an introduction to the ordinary visa most commonly used and its application procedure...you can refer to this-http://www.foreignercn.com/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=7571&extra=page%3D1

I know Chinese people thru business contacts..and I would say "No."

They are non-confrontational people in a way, but they would not come to your aid in a hurry should you need it.

And, remember if you go..there are good and bad of every culture...the bad may get to you and the good won't be in a hurry to protect you?

They would just stay quiet. No one will tell you the truth....I am not black or white and I will tell you the truth. I hear things from all sides and all people.
