I don't bother reading the quote. I have never asked a question that a bible quote was necessary for an answer. I have always asked on a personal level or my question was a joke.
The only thing that pisses me more is a cut and paste job.
That is an instant thumbs down and I never ever read it.

It is because many people who read the Bible misinterpret it. A classic example are the Scriptures used to justify Sunday as the "Christian Sabbath" Rev 1:10, and Col. 2:16-17

Haha, I hate how they put the reference to a scripture. I'm laazy and I want the scripture on the page infront of me, I dont want to search the internet or look in my non-existant Bible to find the scripture they're referencing.. GIMME THE LAZY WAY DAMMIT!! xD
But seriously, the way they interpreted it might have been relevant, the way everyone else interprets it doesn't matter o:

It's kinda the nature of the bible: you can interpret anything in any way and technically, there is no real right or wrong when "interpreting" scripture. So that means you can make any scripture apply to ...anything.

You know, as a Christian this irritates me too. Sadly, it's all too easy to claim to have Divine support just by taking a quotation out of context. In some evangelical churches it's developed into a fine art. e.g. "I am the Way the Truth and the life, no Man comes to the Father but by me," refers to the necessity of a pure and Christlike life; and yet some people claim it proves that not 'believing in Jesus' i.e. not mentally assenting to the Bible is a guaranteed one way ticket to Hell.... it's frustrating to see any great sacred text misused in this way.

when you can't win with normal logic and reason, use scripture. It doesn't matter whether it applies or not, it just looks cool!
besides, who ever reads the ones with all the biblical quotes anyway. kind of absurd to reason your point with an argument the opposing side does not accept as valid in the first place.

Because it's an art, taking a verse out of context, and requires a certain level of knowledge.
Check out how I answer your question:
Psalms 49:13 -
This is the way of those who are foolish, And of those after them who approve their words. Selah.

Its because they think bible verses have some kind of magically power. Its commonly believed if people hear the "word of God" they will be compelled to convert.
