he rang you ? how did he get your number he should be ringing his insurance with your insurance details as should you. they do the rest.
the prat probaby didnt have insurance now feels he can bribe you for compensation. if it was not reported in the legal time to the police, in the eyes of the law their was no accident.
maybe report it to the police any way & say he is harrasing you for compensation rather than go through the proper channels. they will soon put him straight.

The police have some form of protocol for this style of stuff. i have had some really small injuries, and they ask if i favor them to call an ambulance. they have some form of grading device. answer this question coherently and act such and such and they could enable you sit down for a jiffy and if in a once you're able to respond to a pair others they do no longer ought to call an ambulance. some human beings favor the ambulance promptly, and are not in touch with the cost (right here you'd be billed for it - and it really is severe priced). basically because someone is bleeding does no longer mean they favor an ambulance. even if or not they are in wonder. Air luggage going off may reason extra issues (and extra damages) than the coincidence that led to them to flow off. Been there, accomplished that. wish she's feeling extra positive.

In NZ you have to report any accident if someone gets hurt within 24 hours. Because you were not hurt and the other person was not then you need not to. You may check your own country laws.
Also if that person also failed to tell the police in time then he has to explain that why he could not do the same in the 24 hour period etc.
He is trying to extract money out of you. I hope your FEW days are more than the 24 hour period.

You say he didn't get any serious injury, was he injured at all?
If so, you need to inform the police under the Road Traffic Act as soon as practicable, and in any case within 24hrs where injury is involved. This will cover your back in case of any insurance claim.
If asked why you didn't report it earlier, state that he only recently claimed injury.
If the motorcyclist was at fault, he will probably back down when the police get involved, afterall, he did refuse at first, you have to ask yourself why?
I've been in this situation and came to no harm for reporting late, they took the report and that was it.
Good luck.

Sorry first mistake, you should have reported it to the Police, to cover your own back. Problem is by now, he may produce a witness to say it was your fault. Go to the police and tell them what happened, and call into your insurance company. If he rings you again, call his bluff, and say you will check it out and talk to your witness. Be as smart as he is. Good Luck.

Police are only interested in RTAs (road traffic accidents) if there is damage to public property, or the accident is causing a public problem.
As the matter is gone and there was no damage to public property they wont be interested.
He's trying it on with you. If he wanted compensation, he would be telling his insurance company, not you. Next time you speak to him, just tell him to direct everything through the insurance company and you'll be happy to oblige. If he's entitled to it (which it sounds like he's not) he won't bother and you'll never hear from him again.
It's common for some low lives to try and get money out of accidents by telling the other party that it'll keep their driving record clean. Dont fall for it.

He sounds like a dodgy character to me. He didn't want to report it straightaway, and is now trying to exhort money off you? I don't think it is too late to go to the police, although they will probably question why you didn't call them rightaway. Tell him to take a running jump, and call your insurance company. I bet he doesn't have any, so he will be in trouble, and should be off the road before he causes an injury to someone. Was it his bike?

Let your insurance know. Go to the police in any event. Your son may not be regarded as an independent witness,

Fill in all the forms for the insurance company stateing it was not your fault and that the claim is fraudulant. Your insurance company should act on your behalf so dont let them take the easy option of paying him if it was not your fault. If they do pay him you will lose your no claims discount. if neccesary involve the Police they will probably be in contact with you anyway if he is claiming he is injured.

There are cameras showing nearly all roads these days. If you go to the police or a solicitor they can maybe get access the these tapes and check the story for you.
