Patent foramen ovale is fairly common, and if the pressure in teh right atrium is greater than that in the left atrium, the oxygenated and deoxygenated blood can mix. (Answer D)

Interestingly enough, there is a link between PFO (patent foramen ovale) and migraines! Most PFO's are asymptomatic however.
