Not at all. The abundance of sects is characteristic of America where we're all always right. As someone once said, "Wherever two or three or gathered in His name, sooner or later one or two of the three are gonna have differences of opinion and gather somewhere else in His name."

The answer is a plain - NO!
Wherever there is a heavy influx of migrants in search of a better life, many of them bring their religious practices with them...
For example, in Europe, there are many Eastern Europeans who now have freedom to move across borders...There are also many Africans and others who are fleeing persecution and deprivation who too bring their traditions, practices and customs with them...
What is different about America is the fact that in the last 100 years, many who have been disgruntled with organized religion and their established churches have moved away to set up their own religious orders as a means of propagating their own brand of rival truth.
It must not be forgotten that in America, religion is one of the fastest ways of making a lot of money without having to be accountable to anyone including God. As the cliche goes, if you want to get rich open a church if you believe you have the charisma to woo people to your way of thinking...
In the end, Christ still has a true church on earth and it is not made up of denominationalism but made up of individuals who will change the world and usher in an age of right living with Christ being The King of kings and Lord of lords forever...

It's a worldwide problem. People need to pray, read the Bible, then adhere to its teachings as written. Only then will there be the church that Jesus built.

however
there just seems to be only a Catholic/Protestant divide
I dont know any Protestant who will say that one Protestant church is any different/better/worse than another in the same way that I have seen it said here
