When you look at yourself and notice your two eyes, two hands, five fingers, one tongue, and so on.

Then you look at an ape. The ape got two eyes, two hands, five fingers, one tongue, and so on....

Just wondering why a creation worthy of Gods love and sacrifice like the human is so freakin' similar to an ape....

In fact dogs and cats and pigs got very very similar traits like humans...

We do concieve ourselves as special and sons of God.

Perhaps we aren't all that special...not anymore than the animals amongst us.

Just ponder over that...ponder of who is the one that thinks humans are so special..

Is it we humans ourselves that think we are special..or is it want we want to believe?

In that case anything can be written in a book to explain our special privileges as humans anyway we like..

The Bible is a very good example.

Oh well, back to the question...we and apes are very similar.....
a coincidence or naturale?

The religion teaches us that we have souls and animals don't. But, we don't even need to support this knowledge on our religion. It is a fact that animals cannot think in abstract terms but humans can. There shouldn't be any ambiguity in seeing a difference between a human and an ape.
As far as our material existence is concerned we are coexisting with all biological world together. And in a way we fit this biological world (we have similar biological building blocks - cells, amino acids, etc.). This is probably why we share some characteristics of animals (we have bones, skin, hands, heads etc.). But it doesn't makes us like animals at all.
Only very simplistic approach can lead to a point of seeing no significant difference. Technically, we could say that a circle and a square are similar because from afar they look like a dot.
There is also another thought. All creation seems to have some sense of beauty which is specifically appealing to us rather than to animals. And to have a better share in this beauty we look better than animals. Imagine someone having the head of an ape - it's not only ugly but doesn't look like human any more. You can have wrinkles but you still are not like an ape.
In the end I think the only similarity between humans and apes is in the basic comparison of anatomical parts - that's all.

It's explained in 1 Cor 2:11:
For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him?
It is this consciousness that makes man different. One of my favorite segments on the David Letterman show was called "Artist or Ape?" They brought a painting on stage and Dave and Paul would try to guess if it was done by an artist or an ape. The interesting thing was that every painting I saw in that segment looked a bunch of random brush strokes thrown together with no real purpose. None of them remotely approached the sophistication of art like Gainesborough's "Blue Boy", Grant Wood's "American Gothic" or similar paintings. It would have been too obvious that such a painting was well beyond the capabilities of a non-human primate.

I find your question funny.

Yes, we do have five fingers and toes like apes.
Yes we do have two eye and ears like apes.

But, can apes rationalize?
Can apes makes beautiful works of art?
Can they compose symphonies?
Can they argue about politics, or religion?
Can they Can apes get on the internet and ask questions about whether they were descended from cats because they have two eyes and two ears?
Can apes speak in multiple languages and communicate in fluent linguistics with others?
Can apes feel a range of emotions, including guilt, and sympathy?
Can apes create theories and hypotheses?
Or test them?

God created us as His special children. He blessed us with the ability to reason, and to create.

You must not think very much of yourself or the human race to say that there is nothing special about it.

Besides, there are a million scientific things, such as DNA, and biological compounds that can disprove evolution.
Although, if you want to go scientific, evolution was never actually proven.
It is a theory.
there is no concrete proof that evolution actually happened.

In order to "prove" something, it has to be validated, and reliable. Which means it has to be able to be tested and recreated consistently.

Science cannot recreate life.
Science cannot recreate evolution.
It is not observable.
Creatures can adapt to their environment, but one species cannot evolve into another.
It is even a law of science that states that you cannot create matter from nothing, and that you cannot create life from non life.
Also, there are no real and valid "missing links".
All the ones previously found have been verified as hoaxes or fakes.

Believe me, I am a biology major. I have studied this stuff for years.

I could also go into a bunch of really detail info about our DNA structure and how we have a certain chemical in our bodies that, according to science, is not physically possible to create and sustain life.
Yet here we are.

And just a note about your book theory.
You said about writing anything in a book to explain things...
Who was it that wrote all our theories and science books?
Wasn't it humans?
Ponder who is the one that thinks science is the answer to everything....
we can write anything in a science book, and come up with theories and answers to theories about anything we like....

Also, what about all these marvelous laws that are in place?
All these scientific laws....gravity, quantum physics, motion...
The Fibonacci sequence....
Any mathematician or scientist will agree that the universe has a design.
Regardless of whether that design is random or not....
if there is a design, there must be a designer.....right?

You can't have a blueprint without an architect.
Even if you have a piece of paper that accidentally got ink spilled on it, there had to have been something that knocked over the ink....right?

Newton's first law states:
Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.

This alone disproves the "big bang" theory.
What was it that caused the big bang?
There had to be an external force.

Ponder these things.

I am sorry if you think you are like an ape. God created humans in His image and so people have a Spirit and Soul and a body that is visible but animals only have a body and spirit but plants only have a body. Have you ever seen any animal or plant ever pray to a higher being to a God or gods. From pagans to Christians to the most enlightened people they all pray and it is because we are created in God's image and so want to find rest for our souls. You can look at your mirror all day long and can deny God but the truth is even nature shows that God is the Creator

The differences between apes and humans are enormous. They'd cut me off off before I could explain fully. So, I will simply say this. God commanded Adam/ Eve to have authority over all the animals in the garden of Eden and subdue them .Therefore, indicating we are of a higher they are.

But you are only looking at the physical body. The Bible clearly teaches us that humans are different in that they have an eternal spirit which was given to them "special" when God breathed into man the breath of God. Annimals don't have that! When they die they cease to exist, but when a human dies physically they live spiritually forever. Now that is something to consider ourselves special about.

Interesting note.....human remains have been found that are far older than any other primate remains out there. From a scientific point of view, wouldn't that mean apes evolved from humans?

That would make more sense....the body got stronger and adapted more to the lifestyle around it. But what do I know....

This all points ta a Creator. What separates us from the animals is our God conscience and our fear of death. Stick a loaded pistol in the face of an ape and he would just stare at you. It doesn't matter to the ape.

I think I'll let all the apes and pigs respond to this question as we're all so similar.

The difference is that humans have a soul.

Birdy - it's spelt Don & soul

God designed it . So it is what it is. Are we speical? Yes God tells us we are. He loves us above all others. Even the angels in heaven. That wasn't a tough question. I've seen harder. Not being nasty here. Just facts.
