I think the new Christian's attitude should involve two things: one would be an attitude of humility before the Lord as a sinner in desperate need of a Savior; the second would be an attitude of tremendous thankfulness that the Lord would see fit to bring that person into the kingdom in spite of the sin that separates him or her from fellowship with God.
Neither the person bringing the Gospel message to the new Christian, nor the new Christian himself, can lay any claim to doing anything to obtain their own salvation. The glory goes entirely to the Lord, repentance/gratefulness is not just a quick prayer and then on to other things. It is a lifetime relationship, powered by God, obeyed by us.

They have been saved from reality and no longer have to have rational fears of death, or rational fears of no longer existing. They also have a club of other saved people that will say nice things to them all day long whenever they need it. So I guess it affects mentality in a positive way. However, how does it affect humanity/society? Not well to say the least.

They join the Christian Borg collective. They begin the process of trying to assimilate other still free individuals into the collective. "Resistance is futile, you will assimilate."
I appreciate that some people with lack of guidance made bad mistakes and getting saved helped them turn their lives around but there are other ways to not make a total waste of your life. Good decision making to begin with? Just realizing what you are doing isin't working, admiting you made mistakes like a lot of humans, and correcting them or making better decisions in the future? These arguments make it sound even more like a psychological crutch to me. Thats fine but why have to shove it down everyone's throat and judge everyone else as wrong because they don't buy into your system?

i'm suspicious of the term. it style of feels to me to be a handy way of brushing off someone's issues as 'all their own fault' extremely than admitting that circumstances previous one's administration might desire to have a factor in it. notice that the notice does not exist in international places like Sweden, The Netherlands etc. issues are tackled socially first, extremely than sending human beings to psychiatrists or promoting them self-help books. edit - I the final option myself on one area. On a Dutch talk board i chanced on the notice 'slachoffermentaliteit' which interprets as 'sufferer mentality' with an analogous connotations. I regarded extra advantageous and observed it became exceptionally utilized by utilising ideal-wing events and their adherants.

Being a saved Christian makes all the difference in the world.
You can be a Christian all your life, but until you fully understand that relationship between you and Christ, it is really an empty belief system.
Christ died for your sins, but many Christians don't really truly know what the significance of this is, because there are a million people that call themselves Christians, that do not follow the Bible and what it teaches. The are also a million people that call themselves Christians, but do not truly follow Christ.
And there are a million people who call themselves Christians, but still think that they can get into heaven by being "good people" and by going to church.
There are also a lot that couldn't even tell you what being saved actually means, or what Christ dying for our sins really means.
Have you ever prayed the sinner's prayer?
Being saved is the only way to get to heaven.
Being saved effects the person because it allows them to go to Heaven to be with God when they die, as opposed to going to Hell.
If you are truly saved you look at things through God colored glasses, and you get a brand new understanding of your faith, because you have Jesus in your heart.
I often say it this way:
Imagine you are on a plane and that plane is about to crash.
Now imagine that the person sitting next to you offers you a parachute.
Would you take it?
Of course you would!
But you wouldn't just hold it in your lap....you would put it on!
It isn't enough to just believe in the parachute to save you, you have to actually put it on.
It is the same way with Jesus.
it isn't enough to just believe in him and that he died for you.
you have to trust him
Trust Jesus to save your life, just as you would trust a parachute.
Many people are cynical toward "born again Christians" because they simply don't get it. But when you have a personal relationship with God, it changes your world.

Being saved is a "belief" or "faith" in God. Honestly, it doesn't mean much unless you have faith.
If church people are pressuring you to do this, which is what happened in my case, just do it to get them off your back. But, consider what it means to be saved for yourself when you are not under pressure.
If anyone tells you that if you aren't saved you will go to hell. There are many people out there who have gone through the words and motions of being saved and they are not saved. Saved is in the heart just like God is in the heart and faith is in the heart. God will love you regardless and if your heart is "good" God will know that and accept it without a formal saving.

It gives us a new and better attitude. Our perspective has turned 180 degrees. Contrary to popular belief, we are not self-righteous. Quite the opposite, we are able to deal with a person's failings without criticizing them. If we criticize and condemn, we are not of God.
