And yet you believe in evolution without proof (if you’re going to say evolution has been proved please back it up as no-one has been able to prove it so far).
Isn’t this a little hypocritical? Wouldn’t it be more honest to be an agnostic?
Sensible answers welcomed.

Claudia - the EVIDENCE is the same whether you believe in evolution or creation, the interpretation is different; that is not proof.

Llew - I am not trying to make you believe in God I am asking why you accept one thing without proof and not another. Your DNA is just as close to a pig as an ape so I'm not trying to insult your intelligence.

Those of you who quote interpretation of evidence as proof are clearly the ones who do not understand scientific theory. At least gibbonboy is honest enough to admit that it can't be proved. Weight of evidence (however you look at it) is NOT proof.

Daniel C - please check your facts. Darwins finches are an example of adaptation not evolution; they are still finches. Evolution has NOT been proved otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion,

Why do you all think I'm trying to convince you about creation or God? I'm not. I am asking why you believe one thing without proof and yet ridicule others for doing the same thing.

daveygod21 - thanks it's a fair point but the exact same argument can be used for a creator using a common design.

Let me put it this way. I accept that there may be no absolute proof for evolution, but the scientific evidence is pretty overwhelming in favour. I accept that I cannot prove nor disprove that there is a god, but the evidence to suggest that there is, is weak to say the least and to me seems to have evolved from the attempts of primitive mankind to explain their surroundings without the benefit of science. I can only speak with knowledge of Christianity as I was brought up in that faith. In my book, scientific evidence of evolution is more impressive than stories of talking snakes, walking on water, burning bushes and resurrection. Consequently, weighing the evidence, I come down in favour of atheism.

Here's a sensible answer.
I'll type slowly so that I don't confuse you.
Throughout the history of thinking mankind, especially from the point where he evolved into a being that COULD string thoughts together, he has been scared of just about everything that he didn't understand.
Yesterday, here at home, there was an immense thunderstorm. Lightning ripped through the sky and the sonic boom of thunder shook the house. With the advent of education and the application of science, we should all know what a thunderstorm is. Ancient man, however, had no idea and was scared silly. Add to the list the scary values of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, drought, neighbouring tribes stealing food and women, tornadoes, wild predatory animals with big teeth and claws ... and so on.
Ancient man needed a 'father-figure' or a protector and, in the actual absence of same, he invented one (or more). Thus began religion, all based on invented gods.
Today's collection of gods (yes - there are many more than the one) are no different. They are all invented.
Bearing all that in mind, we now take a very simplistic look at our own long-term history. The evolution of species. As no-one was around way back in time to take notes or even provide photographs, the 'theory' of evolution is currently the best bet as to how life began and evolved into its current state. Of course, another option is that an invisible, silent and totally non-invasive deity did it with magic but, common sense tells us, the simpler answer is more likely to be true and evolution is quite simple in its concept, whereas the idea that a wizard in the sky is hardly a simple idea - except for the simple-minded.
I don't need proof to provide any evidence of the existence of a god. It is only logical to take the view that such beings are totally-imaginary and the matter ends there.
We have proof that evolution is a totally-valid arrangement. Your claim that there is no proof from anyone is a little straw-grasping. There is no magic involved. There is no invisible wizard hovering. It is reality and while that may be difficult for the indoctrinated to accept, reality is reality no matter how much the brainwashed wish that their version is true. Wishing and hoping does not change facts.
Atheism is the only logical option.
Belief in a god is illogical, childish and dangerous.
Strong belief is even more dangerous, for which the evidence is abundantly clear on a daily basis.
Give it up and become a normal human being. It will be difficult because to deny the existence of a god after all those years is scary! I know, I was there once. It is a test of character to take that step into the real world from a life in fantasy-land. I did it. So can you. It is remarkably liberating.

Evolution has been proven and the results witnessed. Please check your facts before giving out such an erroneous statement. For further information, I suggest you research Darwins Finches. Alternatively look at any research conducted using fruit flies. With fruit flies, scientists are able to witness evolution happening within a very short space of time (a few months) as their entire life cycle takes place in less than 2 weeks. This means any changes are rapidly passed down through the generations at a measurable rate.
I am still waiting for any measurable proof that a divine being has anything to do with the creation and diversity of life.
RE: Please check my facts: Adaption is the basis for evolution, one thing leads to another, cause and effect etc. You obviously do not understand enough to be posting questions like this.

Are you joking? I sincerely hope so. But you are right, science does not claim to give absolute answers, we do not claim to know everything, yet there is a huge amount to evidence that evolution is true, and absolutely non that creation is true. There is not the slightest bit of evidence for a god Dom, not one iota, not the slightest bit... yet you still think its true. whys that Dom?? So are you an agnostic because you cannot prove the existence of a god, any of the countless 10000's that man has created over the millions of years. So who is being the more dishonest Dom, the atheists with there evidence, of the ones that believe in god myths purely on the blindest of faith? Good luck figuring that out, I think you will need it.

Please present your evidence for creation. There is no evidence for it that meets a scientific standard. The whole field of ID/creationism is just based on trying to pick holes in evolutionary theory and say if evolution is wrong then creationism must be true. This is false. Even if evolution were disproven tomorrow creationists would need to provide some objective, tangible, positive proof that the universe and life were created by a supernatural deity speaking and breathing into dirt.
In case you are interested a summary of the physical, objective evidence of evolution at link below.

A. Evolution is a Theory.
B. There are some proof of concepts. Look up subject on ... say ... a whale.
C. All atheists are agnostic by nature, but not all agnostics are atheists.
(Basically, adaptation is the basis of evolution. Why a being needs to evolve? Because it needs to adapt to the environment. For example, if there is no requirement the breathe under water since human are adapted to living on land, why is there a necessity to grow gills?)

Evolution is an established fact! Your statement is a tired old standard theist trick. The line 'no one has been able to prove it so far' is just not true! You personally may not understand the evidence or accept it, but that counts for nothing, I'm afraid!
We can SEE it happening! The proof is overwhelming, from the fossil record, from comparative anatomy (Anatomists accepted evolution generations before Darwin!) and most devastatingly of all (For creationists) from DNA analysis.
The proof is mountainous and overwhelming. To say there is no proof just reveals colossal ignorance and denial!
And what counter-evidence is there? Some ancient fan-fiction for god!

That is correct. I do not believe in any gods.
I do not "believe" in evolution. As a scientific theory, however, it makes a great deal of sense to me.
Proof of evolution. Listen, I am not here to dance for you. I am sure you've heard the arguments for evolution before. If none of it has been able to qualify as proof to you, I am under no illusion that I will say anything that you will take seriously. I will just say that I do not consider myself hypocritical. If you disagree, I won't lose any sleep over it.
I suggest if you are honestly seeking information about evolution, look it up yourself; or, if that is too much work, go ask in the science section of Y!A.

there is not one person on this earth, who can say that God Exists or God doesn't,the only query I have if, an existence is there, will it be the being we have been told about in schools or, some other form. these arguments have been debated for ages no satisfactory conclusion has been forth coming. If you believe in God so be-it.If you don't , that is a choice you make yourself.whats the problem, if all of us fully believed in the existence of God and God really did exist why then , all the turmoil in the world today ?, please do not come back to say that is mans choice, That is an easy get out

Ever use penicillin or any antibiotic? If you did then there's your proof that evolution exists. Bacteria are constanly evolving and changing in order to survive. In this case, we cannot keep up with the evolutionary process fast enough because many antibiotics are becoming obsolete.
That is a case of the most simple form of life undergoing evolution. The most complex forms of life (multicellular animals)undergo the same processes. Whether they be dog, fish or human.
There's a boatload of evidence to back up evolution. Not sure where you're getting that from.
