Also, clarifying, I was once a baptist. But most people in that group were too judgemental for my taste.

What's to prove wrong? It's not like we 'believe' in anything...it's more of an absence of belief. Hmmm, it's like a theological vacuum.

I am a Christian and I try to encourage people to be. I will explain what the Bible says to people, but I will not hound someone about it. You can try to show someone the Word, but you cannot make them believe it. Personally, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be recognized for leading as many people as possible to heaven. I am not some cooky Jesus freaky either. Just a noral everyday Christian. ( I was baptist, now Church of Christ)

We make them feel self-conscious because they can't prove what they say. The only thing they rely on is a 4000 yo book wich has been altered many times. Their case wouldn't stand in a court of law.

"There is something feeble and a little contemptible about a man who cannot face the perils of life without the help of comfortable myths. Almost inevitably some part of him is aware that they are myths and that he believes them only because they are comforting. But he dares not face this thought! Moreover, since he is aware, however dimly, that his opinions are not rational, he becomes furious when they are disputed."

because they don't like the fact that there is a group of people who can poke holes in what they believe
Christians can dish it out but they cant take it
and an atheist wont back down when provoked which I admire

This is what I believe!! !! !! It is ONLY my opinion, alright? I believe that the people who are trying to dag-gone hard to prove the 'non-believers' wrong, are REALLY TRYING TO CONVINCE THEMSELVES!! {remember only my opinion, i'm sure i might get crucified for this}

If someone truly believed that they were in the right, they wouldn't have to TRY to convince anyone. They would be comfortable in their beliefs to let others have their own.

So when I hear someone going on & on about why someone is going to hell for not believing in Jesus Christ, I hear this:

"I am insecure in my faith, if I am not telling you how wrong you are, other people MIGHT see this too!!"

So who is these aethiests you are talking about?

Anyway, christians can only try, that is about all, since they know they will never have any proof so they can only try.

Probably for the same reasons atheists try to prove christians wrong.

I rather think it is a minority trying to repair faulty foundations in their personal beliefs. If atheists are wrong, then they are correct. It doesn't work that way, of course, but I doubt they are cognizant of that fact.
