There's a difference between being employed part-time and casual. If you work on a casual basis your employment can be terminated with no notice by the employer. If you are permanent part-time then different rules apply and you should be entitled to pro-rata holiday pay, sick leave etc., and a certain amount of notice should have been given to you.
I assume you are in Australia, so you could call the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations which is listed under government departments at the front of your "White Pages". They can give you all the answers you need.

maybe your boss wants to get a fulltime worker,the best thing you do just find a part-time job, if you want only a part-time i mean part-time rather than thinking about this,dont break your head go out there and look for something new,goodluck...
