it's not good, but it can't be that bad

Yes, it's fine. As a fermented milk product it's actually easier for them to digest than fresh milk. If they enjoy it it's fine for a treat, of course you're not going to feed them only cheese. I once had a cat that was absolutely crazy for the stinky rinds of one particular kind of french cheese. A lot of people don't realize that cats' diets can include all sorts of occasional non-meat items including some fruits and vegetables, depending on the cat's tastes. All these types of items would only be treats or supplements, though, because cats need the protein and other nutrients in a balanced, good quality cat food.

Anything made from cows milk should only be given as an occasional treat. If your cat is obsessive about cheese, see if it likes either goat or sheep cheese; both are better for the cat (this applies to dogs as well).

a lot of cats like cheese but you should only give it to them now and then as a treat - make sure its not some kind of fancy cheese in with onion or garlic though as these are bad for cats

Only as a treat, I had a cat once that knew when I was cutting cheese, he,d come bolting to the counter, so I gave him just a little piece, & it became a ritual every time I,d cut cheese for something.
