Our department carries Motorola MTX 3000 radios with an emergency button that signals dispatch with your call number. It is quite simple to do, and the bad guy will most likely never know the signal was sent until other officers arrive.

It is department policy that if anyone uses the emergency button, another officer must make visual contact with him, even if he calls later and says it is an accident. This is in the event he is under duress when he cancels the call.

Yes there is an emergency button I can push and it will set an alarm off in communications. If I need assistance I usually just key up my radio and tell dispatch to send me an assist car though. However, I know of one case where the officer was so injured that she couldn't talk and she used her emergency button to get help. She died in the line of duty from a vehicle crash.

Yes, there are emergency alert buttons on some radios (not all), and on most MDT's in the cars.

Yes, we have panic buttons and almost all cars now are equipped with GPS so if you don't answer they send help at least to your vehicle, which should be in your general area
