I just made one really loud bang on the counter and shouted at her and she never did it again.

Squirt bottle or water guns only work when you catch them and squirt them when they are misbehaving. My wonderful kitties cause more damage/trouble at night when I'm sleeping and don't/can't catch them. The double stick tape works(requires no supervision, but lots of patience putting it out), so does bubble pack(secure with double stick tape) and jumpotrainers(my personal favorite(they are inexpensive, can be reset as often as needed and are very effective). I've found that wax paper sprayed with lemon oil is a great deterrent as well, kitties hate the smell of citrus, just make sure it is secure and won't slip off the counter. Hope that helps. Good Luck and God Bless.
P.S. Mousetraps can be effective, but can cause injury i.e.;can break toes if they get them caught in the trap.

I have used double-sided tape and air horns. cats are decidedly unfriendly to loud noises, and if they associate getting up there with an unpleasant noise, they will eventually associate one with the other.
there is a really good book available from Amazon called cats on the counter... Dr. Larry Lachman. I recomend it.

When I had a cat, I got an empty squirt bottle and filled it with water. I only had to squirt the cat a few times before she got the hint. Then I just had to shake the bottle and just hearing the noise, she got the hint. Good luck!

Keep putting her on the floor and walking away when you catch her doing it so she knows you can trust her not to do it. This should eventually sink in and and she'll stop. It worked for my cat.

Don't.
My cat likes to walk on surfaces even decided one day to pee in the kitchen sink. No worries, as it saves me from having to scoop out more cat litter in the box.
