Yes, sure there is. There may be some truth in there not being any stupid *genuine* questions. But people can make up stupid questions on purpose, definitely. Things they well know the answer to, and still ask to see who'll take the bait, or questions about imaginary situations that are way silly.

And I consider the category of 'shoot off without giving it even a moment's thought' pretty stupid too. I work at a history theme park (reconstructions of farms and houses, with people doing the work they would've done centuries ago) and kids rush in with their list of questions shooting them off at me without even taking any time to look around and trying to work it out from what they're seeing or from what I'm doing. I usually tell them, 'well, what do you think?' and try to get them to work it out, that way they're more likely to remember. Their teachers hope they'll *see* what life looked like in history; if I'm just going to give them the answer, I could just as well come to their classroom and tell them there.

Another silly question. I'm usually barefoot. Pretty regular question from folks wearing flipflops: 'aren't you afraid you'll drop something on to your foot that way?' Now if they asked about stepping *on* something, I could understand (I'm not either btw, got tough leathery soles.) I tell them no, and how was the tiny strap of his flipflops going to protect them from the same.. their expression of course 'oh duh, right.'

How could it be a stupid question if one doesn't know the answer to said question. Now, if someones just being a smartasss...then that's different. No such thing as a stupid question.

a question is only stupid if they don't think it through before asking. a lot of times people end up asking questions about something they already knew if they would have just taken a second to think before blurting it out.

...or it's stupid if it's something like the questions on here that are only asked annoy/disgust/anger other people, but those aren't genuine questions. they don't care to get an answer, they just want to get on your nerves.

Yes, it really depends on what they question is concerning. Depending on what the question is about, it also depends on hoew the question is being asked.

Example of a stupid question: Why does he talk funny?
What are you eating?

Some people might not think a particular question is stupid but another person may think so. All depends.

Stupid questions are asked by people without common sense or under age children, for example, like asking why the river running this way not the opposite way..

No, I don't think stupid questions... but (not to be mean) stupid people... I love to help people, but some people on here, have me shaking my head going... "my god, I didn't want to believe people were this stupid, but they are" Watch the movie Idiocracy... it explains what will happen perfectly if people don't start getting smarter... (come on guys, pay attention in school just a little bit, please?)

Yes.

That's why I hate it when teachers say, "There is no such thing as a stupid question."

I'd say to them, "Yeah? What if I ask you to dance around with your shirt over your head?"

Oh most definitely. But if you ask a question and are honestly wanting to know then I don't think it's stupid.

money and administration. as quickly as 2012 comes and is going without something out of the conventional happening, yet yet another destiny date would be proposed alongside with a quasi possible excuse, merely the gullible might desire to digest. something to maintain the peoples' minds occupied mutually as "the powers that be use them"!
