My power now is -1.25 How bad is to get to be more nearsighted? Its scary? How bad does it get to not being able to see without glasse?

Thank you

Hi, I wear glasses, and I am 1.15. I am very bad with the eyesight, and without glasses, it is simply agony like, but, if you get spare, it will not be the end of the world, just use the spare when u lose your current one! Thats what i do.^_^

This is a very common thing to youngsters your age- going thru puberty, growing, changing. Consider yourself fortunate because while neither of my parents needed glasses in their younger years, Mom had siblings that were Very nearsighted- and I ended up that way at a very young (5) age. Having been in the optical field for over 20 yrs now- I meet people like yourself often- that seemingly al of a sudden need glasses- when all along they needed some anyway. Get the Rx filled and you will be surprised how much better you will see.

It's hard to say for sure. I was about as bad as you are now when I was your age but I got much worse when I got older. I guess it depends on your family history. It turns out that in my family, I had a great-grandfather who was severely nearsighted. It skipped a few generations until it showed up in me. I first noticed I had it when I was 10 years old and it got worse until I reached my 20s. After that, it has remained relatively stable. Since my condition is rather severe, I can say I really can't function without glasses or contacts. I can only see clearly for about eight inches away from my face and beyond that, everything is very blurry. It gets worse in poor light. I would be terrified of driving without my glasses at night because I really can't tell where the other cars are or how far away their headlights are.
