Just wondering, my cage is big, and i want to house more than two. i have two at the moment that seems like they could get along with other gerbils.

Yes, you can. Males get along better in large groups, but three females also seems to be okay together. But, how old are your gerbils? If more than, say, 8-10 weeks, it'll hard and maybe impossible to introduce new gerbil(s) to your eshabilished group, even with a split cage.

If your gerbils are older than 8 weeks, they most likely will not accept new gerbils. Gerbils will FIGHT TO THE DEATH -- the brutality of their fights has to be seen to be believed. And it happens SO FAST you would not be able to break up the fight before someone was injured.

You could perhaps divide the cage in two and then get two more gerbils -- just make sure they are all the SAME GENDER.

Gerbils are great pets. When eventually the two you have now die, you can then get 3 or 4 (or more) from the same litter, again, make sure they are all the same gender!

GERBILS ARE PRETTY SMART.IF YOU ARE BREEDING THEM THEY WILL ONLY CONTINUE TO BREED IF THERE IS ENOUGH ROOM FOR THEM,UNLIKE OTHER RODENTS THAT WILL PROCREATE NO MATTER THE CONDITIONS. ALSO, ONLY THE ALPHA MALE AND FEMALE WILL BREED,SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT OVER-POPULATION.ALSO GERBILS DO NOT LIKE OUTSIDERS,IF YOU ARE GOING TO INTRODUCE A NEW MEMBER TO THEIR FAMILY,MAKE SURE YOU GET A YOUNG BABY OR THEY MIGHT KILL IT.
