Yesterday I found a stray cat in front of my garage. I approached it and it ran away to my backyard underneath my patio. It was typing to hide from me. I tried to feed it, but it was very cautious. Everytime i came out it hid under the patio, then i put the food out and left. The cat would look for me before and during eating the food. Also, the cat looked about 6-9 months old and was "afraid" of people/

I fed and fed it more about 1 pound of meat. Then it didn't come back. After an hour it brought a sibling. I fed them, again and again, but the (first) bigger one ate most of it. I fed them for about 1 hour. It seemed like they were starving and cold. It was about 40 degrees outside and i tried to let them come in the house. But, they wouldn't.

Today, only one cat was there. It was lying on a bench as if it were looking for the other one. It seemed like it died from the cold or overfeeding. I was depressed. What should I do with the stray cat?

Both of them disappeared... I tried bringing out more food and even a box with towels in it. They haven't came back since 2 days ago. I don't know what happened to them.

Since you've fed them, they will keep coming back.

Put the food closer and closer to the door. They are scared. Put out a towel, or something warm (with your smell, so they get used to your smell).

Dont feed the cat meat. Cat's like chicken... but I suggest only little tiny pieces at a time, only if you get them in the house. Stick with kitten food.

If you do get them in the house, they will hide. They have to get used to you (if you decide to keep them) Give them a few days, and they will snuggle up to you. The first few nights, they might cry, or meow a lot.

You're sweet. If possible, try and catch the kitten by setting out a cozy open box with food and a blanket. Try cat food because although cats are carnivores, they need the balanced nutrients found in cat food. Get some smelly canned catfood, like a seafood variety. If you are planning on keeping the cat and have other cats, keep he separate, including feeding bowls and litter boxes until the new cat is checked for feline leukemia and FIV. If you are unable to keep the kitten, there are humane societies everywhere that allow people to surrender an animal at no cost. You can find a human society near you by logging onto www.hsus.org. Good luck!

Keep feeding them. Dry food will last better in cold/freezing temperatures. Try putting a water bowl down too, they need water and the less they have to travel around city streets the better.

They may be cautious, but if you're consistent, and talk to them without trying to grab, they'll trust you over time.

Can you put a cardboard box out there with two folded towels in it and one side cut down so they can get in? They'll use that if they need to. Stick some folded newspapers under the towels, that reflects body heat back up. Old shirts would work too. This gives them something they can snuggle into.

If you can warm the food up a little, not enough to burn their mouth, that may help.

Kudos to you for your kind heart. Pray, have patience and keep putting out food. It may be the other one was weaker and didn't survive or may be in hiding, only time will tell. Obviously you care about the strays. What do you want to do? Stray kitties need homes, if you are willing it may take a while, but with time, love and food you may have a new best friend. Good luck and God Bless you.

P.S. If you decide to keep your stray, spay or neuter your new friend as soon as you feel it trusts you and you can repair the damage a trip for surgery to vet will create.

I have also a stray cat. She just came to our garage one day. I have 3 cats, so she's the 4th one. It took us about one week before she allowed herself to be scratched on the tummy and groomed. Yoiu must have separate bowls and dishes for all your pets. If they share bowl, the older ones usually eat everything and the smaller ones eat the leftovers or sometimes none at all.

Maybe the other cat die or maybe has found a new home where she feels more comfortable. Just take good care of your new stray. It really feels good to have pets even if they are strays. Go ahead love them!!!

As long as you keep feeding them they'll come back to where they are being fed... I have about 10 feral neighborhood cats that show up at my back porch because they know there's food out for them, I never see much of them during the day, they run off if I walk out the door, feral cats are hard to tame down, but it can be done with alot of time and patience.

Bury the cat deep in your back yard, so its sibling doesn,t smell it and try and dig it up,just keep leaving cat food/biscuits + clean fresh water out for the other cat.Every time it comes talk to it gently it will learn to trust you.

Give the little chipmunk some hamster food and since it is wild it may not know how to drink from a water bottle so give it a little bowl of water
