so i've used a curling iron before and there's a piece that you clamp on the bottom of your hair and then roll it up and curl. when i use rollers how do i get my hair to roll around the roller? i think i'm having a problem because my hair is entirely too straight to start with and it doesnt want to wind around the rollers. am i retarded? why is this so hard for me?

It's tricky wrapping stick straight hair around a roller. It resists bending.

I have straight hair & use velcro rollers. They grab the hair a bit.

This video demo is a good one:

Take a small piece of hair. Brush under the small piece you have selected with the roller until all the hair from the selected piece is ready to be rolled. Now hook the ends of hair under the roller and start to roll to the inside. Then pin down. I never do my own hair. Rather let a friend do it or go to a hair salon. It is so much easier.
