Just to clarify, I understand there are huge variations of belief in Hinduism. But since I have been told by Hindus from India that there are many gods, I'm going to have to ignore the comment that it is strictly wrong. Obviously some do believe in multiple gods in that tradition.

Christianity has a henotheistic element - the Holy Trinity: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost - separate entities, and yet the same.

Mesopotamian societies started leaning towards that direction in their theological writings. They had lists of thousands of gods once they started writing everything down, and the best way to deal with this was "this god from A is a lot like this god from B. We'll call them the same god to make things simple."

A part of the question is NOT properly constituted.--In Hindu religion "All Gods are one God idea"- is a Mis/Dis Information. In Hindu Religion there is ONE and ONLY ONE GOD.The devotees are at liberty to call("Free Will") that ONE and ONLY God by many names depending on the attributes of God. God is benevolent so His NAME is SIVA(M)---God is all pervasive/immanent(Vaasyam) So His Name is Vishnu.--God creates the whole of Universe-So His NAME is Virinji (nick name is Brahma)--God is loved by all His Devotees("Ramyathethi Raamaha")---so His NAME is Raama--God is the cause of all activities("Kr") in the Universe--So His NAME is "Kr"ishna.--now is it understood ? There are NOT "All Gods";there is only ONE GOD in Hinduism --Devotees call Him by 1000 NAMES--repeat many NAMES--NOT many Gods-"Vipraaha Bahudhaa Vadhanthi"--note the word "Vadhanthi"(Vedham)--Vedham does not say "Bahudha Dharsayanthi(Many Gods)"--this is all due to the translations by Up-starts who talk through their "Hats' or deliberately twist the facts..
