PS3:
-More powerful processor (HD graphics capable)
-Built in Blu-Ray/DVD (currently the leading next gen format by 2:1)
-Free online play
-Small library of good games (this is changing in a hurry though and there are currently some very good games)
-Very quality system with a low failure rate
-New 40gb version has no backwards capability (this will most likely be changed over time with firmware updates)

XBOX360:
-Still uses dvd discs for games limiting graphics and other things, games still have good graphics though
-No built in DVD player, HDDVD add on for 150$
-XBOX live: 60$ a year but i don't see it as that much better than Sony's free service
-High failure rate (34%) meaning you may have to send it in for repairs.
-Better library of games and yes it has HALO.

Yes the PS3 is more expensive, but at 400$ it is a great deal by getting the blu-ray (standalone bluray cost about 800$), game system, and media system all in one. With the 360 you have a better library of games for now (you need to remember that the 360 has been out for a year longer)

Seeing as both systems will have great games in the future I would go with the PS3 simply because it is the best deal of the two. PS3 has better graphics and wont fail on you. I have had mine for a year now and though it has been hard to deal with the delays and setbacks Sony is turning the corner and I feel that in the next year it will have the better games and will pass the 360. Both systems are great, I just feel the PS3 has truly made the next-gen leap whereas the 360 is only a minor improvement of the original xbox.

yes ps3 is better than the 360 even though you might get some better things out of the 360 the ps3 is a win win. ill explain... it has better stats has 6 processors when the 360 has 1 processor. has better graffix and is cheap $399 for a ps3 and it comes with FREE 24/7 access to online you can browse the web or play online games with your friends. all you need is a internet connection dsl/cable etc... and games cost the same as 360. it has some good exclusives like Home for ps3 ONLY and Metal Gear Solid. also it will have gta 4 as well as the 360 but RECOMENDED BY ROCKSTAR TO GET THE PS3 VERSION FOR THE BEST EXPERIANCE. also you can have friends list as 360. but you have to pay for online on 360 and over time (about 7-10 years till new systems come out) you will pay umm i think 50 dollars a year hmm lets see thats $350 if you pay for seven years thats about the same as buying a new xbox 360 plus you have to think about buying games and about it redlights (redlights = it dies and does not work and their is alot of cases of people buying it and a few weeks later it redlights) then you would send it to miscrosoft. for a few months and you get it back.. but you might not have it long befor it redlights again their are very very very rare cases of ps3's messing up probly caused by mishandling it like dropping it or getting it in water. ive had my ps2 for about 8 years then it finnally died but still worked but it had problems reading disk i could have cleaned it but i just said nahh. well i hope you understand ps3 is better because it has more processor power/free online etc. i hope i see you in the future on ps3 online peace - Pedro93 (psnetwork nam)

The Playstation 3 is better because

*Cell Processor- The cell processor is an extremely powerful micro processor built of 8 processors (SPE's) and one PPE. This processor is built for extreme amounts of processing and is very useful for multi tasking through artificial intelligence, physics, lighting navigation, etc- The xbox 360 has a 3 core processor, which is strong in general processing, albeit not the best for video games.

*RSX GPU- The RSX is a powerful GPU which is specialized to work with the cell processor to render DX10 like graphics by pooling it's RAM.- The xbox 360's GPU can only handle DX-9, while is good in the graphics department, though not the best.

*Blu Ray- The next generation disc medium which can store up to 50GB (100GB in experimental models) The extra space allows game developers to make large responsive environments, complex artificial intelegance, HD video and audio, etc. without compression.- The xbox 360 only uses DVD for games, which can only hold 9GB, which results in short games, aka Halo 3, Bioshock, and gears of war.

*Other operating systems- The ps3 can get different operating systems installed, such as Linux, allowing it to be an alternative computer, and you can install many diferent programs.- The xbox 360 cannot do this

*Web browser- The ps3 has a decent web browser, which you can go to many different web sites with, it does have basic flash updates, but it does need to be improved upon, including in java, though this can be fixed easily via a firmware upgrade. Many popular sites like myspace and youtube are accessable though.- the xbox 360 doesn't have one

*Play TV- Pretty much Tivo for your ps3, a tuner that you can record things with. Though it has only been announced to launch in Europe so far.

*Interchangeable hard drive- This pretty much means you can change the size of your hard drive with any hard drive so you can store more things.- you have to buy an expensive MS HDD for the 360

*Built in wifi- Wifi lets you connect to the internet wirelessly- With the xbox 360 you have to buy a wifi adapter for $100, this comes standard in the PS3.

*Free Online- the xbox 360 costs $50 per year

*Playstation Home- Playstation home is an interactive community of ps3 users where you can play games or meet up with friends and hang out at your virtual home and hang outs, as well as stream live media(releasing in october, and is FREE)

* Games- For now good games include; Heavenly Sword, Resistance Fall of Man, Rainbow Six Vegas, Folklore, warhawk, lair, and motorstorm. Good upcoming games are Ratchet and Clank Future, Call of Duty 4, Haze, Uncharted:Drakes Fortune, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo Prologue, Eye of Judgment, LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM confrontation, Tekken 6, Time Crisis 4, White Knight Story, and Final Fantasy XIII. ps3 is much better than the xbox 3fixme ive went through two, the first 360 went in for repair twice so i thought i got a lemon and i bought another one (live and learn) after two months when the second one shut down and they sent me the box to send it back i smashed it and sent it back with a letter saying they can keep their junk. now i have a ps3 and love it, blue ray player, much faster and a very bright future. not to mention that sony has a history of putting out systems that dont break down.

going by the techs yes the PS3 is a better built console I had both my 360 broke on me twice even had an elite and it broke I swear by the PS3 its wheres it at lol but it depends in what your into. If you like shooters then both are great consoles but If your a hardcore online person who like halo 3 then get a 360 but if you want different kind of games then get a PS3 maybe these commercials can help make up your mind

I prefer 360 only because it's cheaper, it has more games out currently and I really like xbox live. But you have to pay like 60 dollars a year for xbox live. Ps3 Doesn't have that many games out yet but that will change with time, it is a more powerful system, it has a built in bluray player and the games come on blu ray which means that there can be huge games on just one disk. It depends on what you want it for online offline or if you want the bluray. I like the 360 but that's just me.
