you can get out of it, if you didnt take the oath, you do this at the meps station, you tell them there you have changed your mind before the oath, once you raise the right hand your in, thats all they need to know if you dont dispute this before your in, then you have to go in and do your best t fail basic training, ive seen them get kicked here, fail to do the physical fittness test to just being un disiplined, you will catch alot of crap this way but this is another way out, but if you pass basic then you have to deal with dishon discharge so do it before you get this far, cause above stays on your record

Once you sign the contract and take the OATH, you are hooked. Back in the Civil War a person could have someone else take his place in the military, and there was a time if I am not mistaken when it was possible to buy your way out of the military. But that was long long ago. Also there are some countries that, even today, you can buy yourself out of the military. (But those are undeveloped countries). But not in the U.S. of A.

Yes, you can get out via a "Convenience of the Government" separation if you were to win the lottery or inherit a large sum of money. It deals with morale issues and what not but it has to be requested by the service member and approved by the military. You have to buy out the remainder of your contract as well.

You don't technically "buy it out" what happens is, like you said, if you win the lottery or come into a big inheritance you are worth more than the govt. can cover in terms of life insurance. I.E. You come into an amount of money that equals more than your SGLI, life insurance. They can no longer cover you so you get out. I never once seen this happen, so I can't say wether it's true or not.

not necessarily. your command would have to agree that separating you is for the good of the Service. you would be required to pay back the militray for any training and bonuses you received. it is NOT easy to do, and no CO is required to let you go if they feel that you being rich will not have a negative impact on Operational readiness.

You can get out on a "change of lifestyle". I know this for SURE. My friend came into a big inheritance and got out on this.
