Every social issue is of importance to the Catholic church, and as an organization, the church has worked for:
--The rights of workers
--The rights of children
--The rights of women (excepting ordination as priests)
--Protecting the unborn
--Helping the hungry, sick and dying
--Helping the elderly and orphans
--Education
--Mission work
--Fighting communism
--Peace
--Social justice
And many more social issues -- these are just the ones with which I am familiar.

The whole lot - poverty and injustice to name just two. Love and justice always go together so we can say that all of us have a part in the Church's mission of working for the common good. Please go to this link and read Articles 1 & 2.
