You truely believe in your god(s) correct? I was thinking, do you ever think of the older relgions? Those people followed their gods just as you did and believed in them just as much as(if not more than) you. They truely believed that they were correct, but many of those religions ceased to exist... so, couldnt you accept that you COULD be wrong as well?

"Cant I accept that you could be wrong?" If you wouldve read you wouldve seen that I did indeed say that I could be wrong and that I really dont know what I believe... this really isnt an attack, R&S makes people so defensive

well, the fact that they ceased to exist sort of says something about their legitimacy. I think the Bible is correct because it has stood the test of time. Actually, that train of thought solidifies my belief that I am on the right path.

EDIT: The God of the Bible existed long (forever) before the Bible was written. God was first and then man was after that. Of course the Bible is newer than man, It took MAN in order to write it. It doesn't mean that the stories and information were not passed down from the creation of the world. The Bible is too consistent to have been a fraud religion. However, those who do not want to believe, there is nothing you can show them to help them believe.

I believe I COULD be wrong about my interpretation of the Bible ( I don't think I am, but I am open to the possibility) but I don't believe I could be wrong about the Bible itself. Too many authors, Too much time span between authors, Too much congruity to the Bible, and a prophet who actually practiced what He preached.

EDIT AGAIN: Please tell me you didn't just say they had less choice back then? They had tons more choices. They had Idols and God's all over the place. Heck, the Israelites made a calf out of Gold to worship when Moses dawdled a little long on the mountain. They were making God's left and right back then. They had all sorts of options. I am also not convinced that they had full belief in those idols. I mean, come on.... they made the darn thing!

Edit again: The Bible was written by 40 different writers over several hundred years (yet it remains consistent). The Calf was made in a day. Touche!

After reading Monte54que's excellent answer, I thought of these scripture verses.

Matthew 19:30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first

and

Mark 10:31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

Is Jesus foreshadowing the fact that our understanding of God will evolve over time.

Perhaps that our human understanding of God is so limited by culture and society that we must create and live in some semblance of a just and loving society before we can take our understanding of God to the next level.

what frustrates me isnt that people believe in things which may be false, its that they believe everyone else is wrong. this is especially evident with western religions: christianity, judaism, and islam. there are many christians i know who very strongly believe that muslims are misguided and believe in the wrong god, even though the god that muslims believe in is the same god that christians believe in! i once told my friend that, and she responded, "they believe in allah. thats not god." i think religion is an amazing thing, but its when people get pigheaded and arrogant that it really begins to get to me. personally, i believe in a god of some sort, but i do not believe in waht the bible says.

on the subject of the bible:
why do i believe it to be false? well for many reasons, but a few of the main ones are this:
First, the bible is written liek there is no other kind of people on earth except jews, christians, and muslims. If you believe the bible as a book of stories, as i do, it makes sense, because the people who wrote it did not know of any other kind of people, such as asians or africans. however, if the bible is truly the word of God, then why would God prefer the Middle Easterns over other people around the world so much? western religions have formed a prejudice to other people; i believe that if you want to truly live a life without sin, you should just forget the past, forget why and how we got here, and instead, live your life helping others and not just preaching to them.
Secondly, about the consistency of the bible, of course people have rewritten it, but its not liek they wrote it form scratch. the bible was passed on, not thought up multiple times. christians, jews, and muslims all have the same foundation of the bible, because it has been passed on through generations. i dont understand why the three have so many conflicts, when in the end, they believe in the same beginning.

Well, i guess after typing so much i may as well make a conclusion. My belief is that sure, there is God, and that he made a world and laws with which to govern it, and in some way, we are his children. But us, being the powerless beings that we are, do we really have to go so far as to worship this God every living minute? Did this God physically come to us and say, "i made you to worship me, this is how you should spend your life"? i do not believe so. i think that instead of living against each other, we should jsut work together for the sake of human beings. I know im going to get many low ratings, because religious beliefs are something people live by, there is no way you can simply change their thoughts. But what im trying to say is this: try to look at it from the big picture. In the end, we are all people, no different from each other as cats are to other cats, and no more special to the world than gorillas or mice. Other animals do not need to have fights over what they believe in. So why do we?

Can't you accept that you could be wrong?

Romans 1:19-20
19: For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts. 20: From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.

forget about religions, threw all of the existance of life, there have been many religions, people come, people go, religions come and go, it's not about what religion your in, if it ceased and doesn't exists, or if you changed it or not, if the name of that religion changed, if the romans loved one, two, three gods, whatever, threw all our existance since the world was made theres only one GOD,the same GOD of the romans is the same of the catholics, musulmans, adventist, which ever religion humans invent, you could put thousands of names to diferent religions, the past, the present, the future, is not about religions is about believes, if those people that are dead already a thousand years ago believed in GOD truly the'll be saved, if i believe in GOD truly write now i'll be saved, if my grandson truly believes in GOD thirty years from now, he'll be saved, that only religion is called CHRISTIAN (meaning:CHRIST) people can worship who ever they feel like it, but if they don't worship the real GOD is like nothing, years are gonna keep going, people are gonna keep inventing religions, names, but the important question is who do you worship truly in your heart, thats what will save you. so many people cant be wrong in GODS existence, you want to believe just look around you and tell me what human hand can create this, who sustains the air, the sun, the moon, the planets, have you ever heard of a person who has invented another, (cloned, they have tried and goes against natures laws) baby's come from a created mother, now who created us, we didn't come out of nowhere, lighten up. you want to believe just ask HIM to show you is that simple.

peace and blessings be upon you
i thought about them , people worship the rock or statues , then worship people as them but kings , then God created all humans the same.
i thought what would be better for me?
I thought also , if i accept the idea of no God , but i saw it not intelligent as everything around me swear that there is God and i looked for many religions which is here right now but i didn't find better than my religion Islam to follow , and i happy of it now and relaxed to what may happen to me after i die , i know i did mistakes ,i wish the God forgive me for it and not let me to the Hell.
I didn't find anything make me suspect my religion and always everything increase my faith.
Do you have a certain idea?what you want tell us about?

God is the creator and has been here since before time began.

If there is only one voice proclaiming truth, then that truth lives. That would be true even if you your self believed in Jesus Christ and no one else in the whole world did.

I think christians who take the bible literally are missing the point. Yeah, I believe in God and Jesus and all that, but it's the idea that I should not be a douche bag and just be a good person that I subscribe to. Jesus just wanted us to be good to each other, and I don't see anything wrong in doing that regardless of what you believe in.
